Man, Skattebo looks gassed before every play, then busts a run, then limps away lol

Hope we get Fulcher back next week. I like Skatt getting 13-15 carries and being fresh for every play.

Tau-Tolliver should have gotten more touches tonight. Got one first drive for 10 yards and not again until mid fourth.

Radio call said Fulcher will back for Montana game.

EWU announcers said he didn't even make the trip.

As did our announcers. All I was saying is that I hope he does come back and suffers no setbacks. Guess I can't "hope" on this board. I'll just stick to facts.

Fulcher was active on the socials during the game - I’m guessing this was a precaution in a game they felt comfortable with giving him a rehab week on, with the bye so early. We need him healthy, especially at home over the next couple weeks…

Fulcher and Prince Washington were both listed as starters on the depth chart a couple days before the game, and both will be back next week (Steve McElroy sounded sure on the radio), had to be the Rona…

I’ve been advocating for more carries from Skat over O’Hara, but, yeah, he needed some rest between plays yesterday. I also was also hoping to see Tau-Tolliver a bit more.

32 touches is too much at this stage of the season. I’d like to see that number closer to 20.

52-28 Hornet win. I tuned in when it was 21 all so I'll have to go back and watch the replay on the first 1.5 quarters. Hornets outscored EWU 31-7 from that point on. The game went back and forth but the turning point was that Hornet goal line stop and subsequent TD drive that put the game away. I'll post more thoughts tomorrow.

You’re lucky. Cause I was on tilt when they blew the 21-0 lead.

Luckily they bounced right back and answered EW’s tying score then scored again just before half knowing they’d get the 2nd half kick. That was a huge momentum changer.

The defense played well early on, but afterward was a sieve. Pass defense looked reminiscent of the opening game of the season and pass rush continues to be a concern.

I thought they could have tried to bring more pressure against what was a very short and not especially athletic QB. At the very least try to block his passing lanes and make it hard for him see. He largely had a clean pocket and clear lanes to throw.

Our DB’s just couldn’t cover their top 2 receivers or catch them in the open field. Also too many drops of would-be INT’s. Defense often looked lethargic and slow. Fortunately they made the big play with the pick 6 and made just enough stops.

Hopefully they’ll play better next week.

Watched the replay, aside from that 5 minutes of EWU climbing back into it, it was Hornet domination across the board. Hornet offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage as the Hornet run game was unstoppable. Skattebo (29 car, 201 yds, 3 rec, 41 yds, 1 TD) had another monster of a game and O’Hara (4/5, 27 yds, 19 car, 96 yds, 3 TD) nearly cleared the century mark on the ground as well. Dunniway (9/14, 113 yds, 3 TD, 2 INT) had a rather pedestrian game in his limited attempts. The first pick was a 50-50 ball that I felt Gipson (1 rec, 14 yds) could have made a play on. The 2nd pick was a bad decision as Dunniway was forcing one into coverage that unfortunately ended a drive deep in EWU territory. The 2 picks and Skattebo fumble were the only blemishes on the night on an otherwise stellar performance.

On the defensive side, I agree with BHF’s points above but I think you’re overlooking the talent EWU has (and always has) on its roster. The Hornet defense doesn’t need to be perfect with the prolific performance that the offense is putting up. This is a good defense and that is more than enough for this team to make a run at another BSC title and get a playoff win (or 4).

The Maher (5 tak, 1 INT) pick six was huge early one but there were a couple dropped picks that the Hornets should have had, but the defense got some key stops and tightened up down the stretch. The defensive line hasn’t gotten to the quarterback all season so that is nothing new, but they continue to defend the run really well. The tackling seemed a bit off that let EWU get some extra yards. Linebackers Armon Bailey (9tak, 2 TFLs) and Jeremy Harris (8 tak) led the team in tackles.

Special teams remained on point. Sentkowski (1/1 FG, 7/7 PAT) stayed hot and the kick coverage team did well to keep EWU’s return game under wraps. The Hornets also blocked a field goal but got fooled bad on a fake punt attempt that fortunately was under thrown.

On to the Griz.

Can confirm that COVID is running through the team last weekend, and into the week against the Griz, not good.

Why anyone is actually testing for this at this point is beyond me. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
