Weekend's biggest loser might be Idaho

Since Idaho's game with Florida was cancelled tonight, does anybody know what happens to their payoff? I heard some announcers tonight say that if they don't make up the game, Idaho may be out of almost a million bucks. They said their travel expenses are probably covered, but that's still a big amount to lose if they're counting on it for their budget.

I suspect there will be some negotiations between the two schools. Both teams have a bye on Oct. 25, then it becomes a question if both schools still want to play. If not, how will the contractual obligations be settled?

From Sunday's Miami Herald:

The schools also announced, “that if the game is rescheduled, then it would be restarted as a new game. That determination will be made and announced at a later time, including ticket information.”

From Sunday's Boise Statesman:

Idaho Athletic Director Rob Spear told ESPN there are two options - the game can be rescheduled for another date, or it will not be replayed. Both teams have an open date Oct. 25. He said the two schools would address that early this week. Idaho would prefer to see the game rescheduled, since Florida is set to pay the school $975,000 to visit.

Florida Sports Information Director Steve McClain told ESPN's Darren Rovell: "We are working through the scenarios regarding the finances of the game."

Loved the headline in the Statesman by the way..."Idaho football doesn't lose to Florida; game called due to weather." LOL!

Weekend's biggest winner now appears to be Idaho. Game with Florida will NOT be replayed yet Florida WILL pay Idaho 975,000 anyway.

Amazing good fortune for UI. They get a big check, don't get any of their players hurt and don't lose in an embarrassing way.
