Somebody's got to start this sweetness thing, so here goes...

All the jabbing aside, we were just as delighted to have you guys in the conference on November 22 as we were on October 11. October 4 was a different matter, but we'll address that this weekend.

To all the Weber fans who will be making the trip, most of you know the drill: Wear your colors and you'll have a grand time in Missoula the night before, and during the game. We really do look forward to seeing you later this week and hope you'll stop by the hundreds of tailgates for some good brew and chow.

In addition to being obnoxious jerks, we do try to turn on the hospitality when folks come to town, and we'll try our best again. This is, however, "the game of the year"!!

Montana is by far my favorite conference road trip. I have been to Missoula several times for a WSU game and everytime the Griz fans are all very friendly before and after the games. Grizz fans are more than happy to share their food and brew with you in their tailgate city.
As long as you aren't down on the sidelines with the Wildcat players you will be treated great.
If you are down on the sidelines well thats a whole different deal.
WA-GRIZZ Stadium is very nice, and is BY FAR the LOUDEST place I have ever watched a game. much louder than BYU, Utah, and even Notre Dame..

Da Griz,

Any recommendations for Friday evening such as restaurants and/or brew pubs in town?

Sure...

GREAT food: Blue Canyon - by the Hilton. Although being a bit pricey for this area ($18 - $30), it'll knock your socks off.

Great Game Atmosphere: Red's, Rhino, Stockman's (all in a 2 block area downtown); Missoula Club (also in that area, but along with elbow-to-elbow Griz fans who would love to buy you beer all night, you've GOT to have a greasy Mo Burger!). There's also the Press Box, across the bridge from the stadium.

There's certainly more, but I'll let other Griz fans list their favorites.

Da Griz

If my crew shows up at the Missoula Club on Friday with all our purple attire for a Mo burger and a beer would it be fun and safe?

Montana fans are really pretty cool in person, you and your crew should be just fine in your weber gear.

OF COURSE! You'll get ribbed a bit, but aside from maybe a drunk college kid here and there who may taunt you a little, you'll be an honored guest tonight, at the tailgates tomorrow, during the game, and after the game - win or lose.

Think of your purple as the keys to the City.

The crew had a great time except for the final score. We had great meals at the Iron Horse Brew Pub and had breakfast over the river at Finnegan's. The locals were all very nice and thanked us for coming. We especially enjoyed all the people walking the streets downtown on Friday evening. It looked like the downtown merchants and restaurants were having a good weekend. The weather was nice during the game. We will be back next fall for the next round!

What?? ?

Catfan,

Are you serious?????

Maybe you were in Bozeman watching it on TV...

BobandWaldo,

We were seated in section 103, row 7, on the 20 yard line, and we had Grizzly season ticket holders behind and to the right of us. They were all very respectful and thanked us for coming. Many came over to us after the game and said we had a great team and had a great season. We never experienced any negativity from any Grizzly fans. I can't wait to go back there next fall will all our returning offensive starters and all of Mac's recruits that are preparing to take the program even higher!

Thats where I usually sit when I go up to Wah-Grizz, and havn't had any problems there. But the South End zone was a totally different deal.

Watch out... here comes "CatCat", whose thin skin doesn't allow these types of posts. We're headed for a lockout!

Da Griz, thank you for the positive things you have said on our message board. I do not agree with all of your posts, but I am not afraid of your opinion, or the opinions of your less articulate fellow Griz fans, and I appreciate any genuine efforts to communicate and build bridges, which you have done.

Granted that I did not have to sit in the end zone or stand on the sideline, but my experience in Missoula and at the game was superb.

However, if any of the stories are true, I recommend you take action to correct them, instead of making excuses and rationalizations. That is my expectation not just for you and your program, but for Weber State, our program, and all the other programs. The game of football is too important to tolerate such foolishness, our own impatient verbal retaliation attempts included.

Winning does not require some of the fan stupidity we have discussed. Fan stupidity should be the exception, not the rule. There is no reason to soil the game of football.

The other team's players are our opponents, not our enemies. The other fans are our neighbors, not our enemies. We have real enemies in this world and they are not Montana.

Cheers!
THE NATIVE
