In anticipation of a rush similar to last year's invasion of the Jayhawks, here's a thread for all you Xavier folks.

Welcome to the board, I'm looking forward to a great game!

What are your thoughts on travel?

Boise is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Portland. Much further for your guys.

Man, I wish Dupree could have had just one more year. Would be great if he could have faced his former school. Oh, and his lock down defense in man to man would be nice to have as well. ;-)

Thank you for the welcome. Hopefully we'll have an entertaining game on Friday. Don't know much about your Vikings. Care to give a quick scouting report?

Thanks for the welcome, Xavier fan here.

For the official school website where you can view the roster, schedule, stats and all that: http://www.goxavier.com

We have many quality wins with Missouri, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Auburn, LSU, split series with Dayton, Temple, Robert Morris (Hey, they did make the NCAA). We also have some head scratching losses, particularly in February, it seems that we couldn't do anything on the road going 1/4 in our last 4 road games. Charlotte, Dusquene (a NIT team, though - it might be the best team the Dukes have put on the floor in decades, they almost took the A10 title), Richmond, and some more respectable loses to Butler and Duke.

This was meant to be our rebuilding year after losing three very talented key players, and bringing in five freshman. It may still be a rebuilding year, but we have accomplished a lot for what was meant to be an off year.

We are equally excited about our freshman (Frease, Holloway, Redford) as well as two untested freshman , Walsh (presumed will take the medical redshirt), and Lyons (the NCAA didn't like all his high school coursework). Redford, when his game is on, is a three point specialist. Expect to see our freshman get quite a bit of playing time.

Our upperclassman, well Brown is the dunk specialist but has really developed this season into a nice all around player. BJ Raymond and CJ Anderson ae our seniors. Hughes and Duckett are the walk on players, don't expect to see them on the court unless the score is safe in either direction.

I'll offer a quick rundown, but some others on here, like WiViking, can offer a more X's and O's-oriented breakdown. Some keys points about PSU:
1) PSU is small. Tallest rotation players are 6-8, and they are face up PFs. Our starting center, and best post player, is 6-7 Jamie Jones. He's like a pogo stick, and we have a great record when he stays out of foul trouble and plays big minutes.
2) Partially due to our size, we rely alot on shots behind the arc. Luckily, we have several great outside shooters, including Phil Nelson, a former starter for the Washington Huskies who can really get going from the SF position when his shot selection doesn't take him out of the game.
3) You'll see a lot of two point guard lineups, especially in crunch time. Jeremiah Dominguez and Dominic Waters are excellent ball handlers and scorers.
4) One characteristic of this year's PSU team has been its tendency to play up or down to the competition. I fully expect PSU to play on all cylinders for this game, like they did when they won at Gonzaga and lost by one at Washington.

Thanks for the welcome!

I was furtunate enough to catch the Big Sky championship game on ESPN2 and I thought PSU looked great. Your 5'6" guard was especially impressive. Here's hoping for a well-played game - and of course a Xavier victory :-)

I've been really busy the last couple days, but I'll be putting something up tomorrow with an extensive breakdown of the game as I see it, and if you have individual questions about players afterwards I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks for the warm welcome, PSU fans!

As far as the game result, it depends on which Xavier team shows up. If it's the team that feels like playing defense, then I think that very few teams would beat X. But...if it's the team that we have seen all too many times in the past month or so, I can certainly see X losing the game...especially if PSU is hot behind the arc.

Good luck to you guys. I love to see a 13 seeded team pull the upset, just not against my X-men!

Thanks for the Welcome.

FYI, If some knobbers come on here spatting crap, it is probably either Dayton or Cincinnati fans posing as Xavier fans. We've seen it before.
