we're baaaaaaaaaack

There's not a ton to figure out about NDSU. They just play really sound football. Great defense combined with a really solid run-first style offense designed to wear you down. I do think we can beat them, but it'll be about a tall an order as WSU was.

NDSU is a totally different animal than WSU. Not better, just different. One thing WSU seemed to,do well was running the football, but they weren't set up to do much of it.

Still, this is an awesome win!

It's only one game and I hate to say I told you so... but damn it, a few of us on here told you this team was good and ready!! There are so many guys that need credit for last night. Also, a great showing of support from Eagle Nation last night. I would venture to guess at least 3 to 4k in Pullman last night! Such an awesome game and so excited for this team!

Not only that but we were loud. WAY better than our typical home crowd. Every 3rd down in the second half we were on our feet. It was cool to see.

A couple more observations:

We never seem to have to re-build at QB and O-line. We all know Beau is a genius QB coach, but a huge tip of the hat to Coach Best. Taking 5 new starters and put up 600+ yards on a Pac-12 team? Ridiculous. You can see why they started Gubrud and he creates for sure, but still.

Dig the read option. The offense had definitely evolved.

I thought the d-line showed some promise. It's tough to be real please with the defense when they give up over 500 yards but that's a good offense they were up against. The two stops to start the game were huge and to keep them from scoring for most of the 2nd half shows some silver linings.

We need to average giving up points in the mid 20's to be a serious threat at making any sort of run at a conference championship and the playoffs.

“The best player on the field was Cooper Kupp,” admitted WSU coach Mike Leach, “and the second best was their quarterback who’s got a name I can’t pronounce.”

I got to give it to your Eagles. Love seeing a FBS team go down. You guys seem to know how to put tons of points on the board, play no defense at all, but that Kooper Kid seems to be a true Leader and All-American type of player you can hang your hat on. WOW!
As you stated above, NDSU is a different beast then WSU, they don't play a shut down type defense and if there is one thing the Bison have learn to do is beat high scoring passing teams. I trust our coaching staff that they will be ready for the Eagles, but there is still a bit of nerves after our tuff game with CSU a week ago. So I think this upcoming game really has an intriguing story line going into it.

High Scoring Pass Happy offense, verses one of the best Defense Teams in the past 5 years in the FCS. But our Offense must help and stay on the field to give our defense rest, otherwise I think your team which either played out of their minds for this WSU game and can they sustain that level of play against NDSU, then come back to UNI a week later. That's a nasty schedule. UNI has a steller team this year and could be the team to match NDSU in fact there is a report that fans want the UNI/Bison Game that is suppose to be in Cedar Rapids, IA to be played at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis because it is going to be such a HUGE game in the FCS and MVFC. Much like Bama vs Ole Miss or Bama verses Auburn. Tuff Conference match.

Anyways, your team definitely showed that they can play and light it up. How does that equate against the Herd in Fargo...? We'll see, defense wins championships and by that I trust our team to be ready to bring your Eagles down to earth next Saturday.

Congrats on your big win, now get ready for MVFC football for the next 2 weeks. Different style of football to say the least.

We'll put up points against NDSU. The big question is whether our defense will play solid enough to get some stops and force you to play catch up.

It is a different style of football from out west, but we have played several teams from your conference the past few seasons so we're not completely unfamiliar with what you guys like to do. It's not the most exciting brand of football but when you play it at the level NDSU does it's tough to beat.

LOL... If Eastern was based in Fargo, North Dakota, we'd sure as hell want to play in a dome as well. Can you imagine playing outdoors in Fargo after Thanksgiving? Yikes, I don't even want to imagine it. There's a reason 3 of the 4 teams from the Dakotas play in domes.

No doubt. Wouldn't a covered stadium be nice for some of those late fall afternoons in Cheney?
NO, NO, NO, and double No again

Not for me, I'm a huge fan of covered stadia. Eastern and WSU are the only non-covered DI stadiums in Washington and Oregon. I go to Providence Park whenever Eastern plays there and having those stands covered is really nice in the rain. I suppose it's because the Eastside doesn't get rain like they do on the other side of the mountains.

But a dome? Not a fan. But I get why NDSU do it. Fargo; enough said.
