Assuming we can get JC Agen back at LB, what about moving Zamora to Safety? McDonald's lost for the season and Zamora played Safety in HS.

Not a bad idea, but I think we are fairly banged up at LB, too. That was a position that we were already pretty thin at. Strangely, we had the most depth in the secondary. Time to pull some redshirts? If so, whose?

I think Baldwin's philosophy on Freshman is that if they're ready to play, they play...evidenced by the large number of true Freshman already playing. That leads me to believe that the guys that are redshirting maybe need a little more time. What's more, I'm not even sure that we have any Freshman defensive backs that are redshirting.

*Edit - I checked.

Victor Gamboa (probably a corner).
Jake Hoffman (I think he actually did play Safety in HS).
Jordon Thompson - think he's been playing at corner.
D'Londo Tucker - been playing corner.
Diamonte Wiggins - redshirted last year. He's a corner.

And that is it. Looks like the coaching staff is going to have to get really creative. Let's hope Alan Brown plays next week.

I don't expect some amazing turnaround with our defense with only three games left in the regular season. Sure, we may have some young players that are talented enough to step up and fill some holes, but in some instances you are talking about putting them into positions that they haven't played since High School and haven't practiced in at all. That is a pretty steep learning curve, especially at the Safety position.

It it was earlier in the season you might consider moving a RB to safety.

We're going to forced to play a lot of nickel and soft coverage schemes to keep it in front of us. Time for the Dline to start winning more battles, stopping the run at the point of attack, and pressuring the QB.

Lot of interesting ideas. Really didn't care for how comfortable the ISU QB was most of the game.

There are a lot of very good athletes not seeing the field much, it may be time to throw them all out there strictly on their athleticism and football IQ's and cry havoc with the front seven to create as much confusion and panic as possible in the opposition. Honestly, the results may be a few more big plays but likely more turnovers as well. Not sure I see the results could be much worse than the current approach, but am an optimist.

Let TJ and Baines cover their guys in man and help manage the young or inexperienced guys on the field. Gall, Bomber, Zamora and young DB's like Hoffman, Gamboa and others that have been named can all help in 4+ wr coverage and the deep middle in the meantime. I like the idea of man coverage with one deep safety and let it rip. Thinking Palouse posse/desert swarm. Fun stuff regardless.
