What Do We need

This Spring...What do the Cats need to maintain their current success and to win their 20th Big Sky Championship?

I would like two things:

A: A glue player who is tough and will do the little things on the court that helps a team succeed.

B: Rebounders. A good sized wing 6-5 or 6-6 who can play D, rebound, fill in lanes, and dunks with authority. Daviin Davis esque

On a side note...how to break the press, play determined, consistent defense, and beat a zone.

I think Weber State needs to score just one more point than the other team in every game to be succesfull and win the championship next year. :-D Im kidding. lol

Seriously, I think Weber needs the players on team to work hard this off season and get better. I can see Wheelright really taking a huge step. He needs to hit the weights hard. Put 10 more pounds of muscle on him and I think that would really help. Bamforth just needs to be Bamforth. He will be the captian next year. Mook needs to stay healthy and I think he will be one of the better PF's in the conference. I think Tresnak needs to get a little quicker and stonger as well. He really inproved his foot work from last season and I believer he is the best center by far in the conference coming back. Hajek, needs to get healthy again. I think he could be really good too. Lots of potential with him. Fulton needs to get stronger and quicker and I think would be good to lose just a little weight. RIchardson needs to get his confidence back. I really like his game and I think he is a great shooter, but the last half of the season he seemed a little down. Brown needs to redshirt. I think he would be like a Nick Hansen in a couple years. Berry, I hope is as good as we hope he is, becasue I believ he is going to be the wildcard. If he is as good as hyped then Weber has a great chance to win the conference if not, it might be a tough year becasue Weber really doesn't have a small forward. As far as the new recruits, I like what Im hearing about them but you never know. I love how the coaches have added more athletic players. Just my opinion. Cant wait for the purple and white game. lol. I hate summer.

Just my oppinion. I don't think we need another combo guard, unless he is a sure fire NBA prospect. I would rather see us look for some depth a the 3 spot and some solid rebounding. :twocents:

I'm going to repeat what Ron A. used to tell me, and I believe it today. " It's not the size of the DOG in the fight, it's the size of the FIGHT in the dog." I don't care if it's a 7'5" center or a 6'5" center, as long as he has a nasty streak and can give us 10 to 20 rebounds a game and can scare the shizz out of opposing teams. Those are not easy players to find. When you do, everybody wants them. You can try to grow your own, but only 1 out 100 attempts will be fruitful. It's only about 20% physical. The rest is drive and desire, hard things to get a handle on. I'm hoping that Hill and Bolomboy have what it takes. If they do, we are going to be really good. If they don't, we will still be searching for that element. :twocents:

REBOUNDING!!
Here's looking at you Tres. No man your size should be averaging less than 7 boards a game.

I don't know if it is all Tresnak's fault, watching the games this year he seems to screen out the other center and our guards are getting the rebounds. So is this a coaching philosophy? But I agree he should be getting more rebounds than he is. Here's hoping the players spend some time down at TOSH (Spelling???) working on their footspeed and jumping ability.

We are two weeks away from the spring signing period. We have heard about one commitment and there are probably others. With all of the speculation surrounding our guard line, I still feel that our biggest needs are related to rebounding and interior defense. We will not have a problem scoring the ball. All of our players can score. If we truely want a championship, it's going to be about desire, attitude, hard work, rebounding and defense. :twocents:

that happened a lot. dame wasn't boxing out centers for all those rebounds.

I'm sory, but this idea that the coaches would tell a post player to not go for a rebound, so that a guard could get it, is rediculous. That would be a good way to get fired, if you are the coach. What I saw happening was exactly the opposite. Trez would attempt to box out, totally lose his guy, and force the guards, or anyone else to go and get it. He's got to grow a pair and start rebounding. I'd love to see him get four rebounding fouls a game, if it means that he will get 10 boards for us. His problem seems to revolve around taking a swipe for the ball and getting a foul called on him early in games. He then gets timmid and his usefulness is dimminished. Trez is a very good offensive player. I think that James may be the better defender/rebounder. :twocents:
