Since our supposed "longtimecat" poster that has suddenly appeared this season posting from a Virginia town outside of Washington DC and has called many of us Fake, Phony and not Real WSU fans.

Why don't we post some of the awesome experiences we have had as Weber State fans over the years that shows what a bunch of phonies we are.

I remember in the mid 80's we won I tightly contested game at Idaho State that got rather heated. At 2 AM the hotel the Wildcat Club was staying in received a bomb threat so we were all out in the freezing cold on a very snowy night.

When Cal State Northridge joined the Big Sky we thought it would be fun to travel to their arena the famed "matadome". What a dump, my high school had a nicer gym. The whole time I kept wondering, "why did we let them into our conference?"

Two years ago I sat in the Spectrum with all of my Aggie friends. At half time with our Cats leading by 18, most of the Aggie fans around me were conceding the win and making excuses. Then I got to sit through one of the worst halves of basketball I have ever seen. Still cheering and shouting encouragement as I watched the game slip away into utter Hell.

Our win over North Carolina in 1999 is one of the best memories of my entire life.

WOW what memories, I also remember when we played in logan when boyette and a late in town osocalich or however you spell it got a late offensive rebound and the logann refs called a foul on him to give the aggies the game. It's funny my son and I watched a little old lady take it to a aggie fan who called us every name in the book.Ahh what memories.Do you remember the 1996 team that took it to Shawn respert and Michigan state, funny again I remember respert laughing when he made 3 pointers. That same tourny Reuben missed the front end of a one and one which would of about sealed a sweet sixteen bid but Georgetown scored at the buzzer to win it. Ahh memories.I can remember at ten years old in my buddies basement we listened on the radio Willie tipping in a game winner to beat Gonzaga.Ahh what memories.I met a guy down on Fremont street in vegas who called me out for wearing my weber shirt, turned out he used to live in layton and was an avid fan. Are you happy now, Posting on this forum longer than me does not make you more worthy. Oh and by the way this was a stupid topic. Sincerely from Utah? Idaho? Virginia?

Okay, here are some of my memories:

• First year at Weber seeing Willie Sojouner around campus. He was a big man in many ways, not just size. Attending games in the old Swenson Gym (The Cat House)—packed, loud, and raucous—the whole building shook. What a great basketball environment.
• The first time a young Bruce Collins played. Watching him drive to the basket, leave his feet around the foul line and seemingly float to the basket. So smooth and effortless. I remember thinking “this kid is something special. Dr J like.”
• The Neil McCarthy era. Watching Richard Smith and David Johnson develop from gawky underclassmen to seasoned craftsmen. On the guard line: Dick Hunsaker, Mark Mattos, Todd Harper=energy and speed. The Dee was packed.
• Watching a goofy looking kid wearing a stupid looking pony tail as he dribbled the ball down the court. I later learned his name was David Patton and his hair was growing for locks of love (his mother had cancer). He turned out to be a great player and the strongest team leader I’ve ever seen. I felt ashamed for judging him so wrongly.
• Watching Eddie Gill bring the ball down court, doing a crossover dribble and blowing past the defender—whose shoes seem glued to the floor. Then floating up an alley-oop to Harold Arceneaux for a slam dunk.
• I only saw Damian play one game for Weber (I’d moved away by this time) and he had an off night—not sure if he was injured or sick. But I’m sure many of you on this board saw him at his best and marveled at his talents.

Yeah, these are all good memories made over a lifetime by a non-phony fan. And then there are the football memories . . . but that’s for another thread.

This topic is ridiculous.

Sounds like someone got butt hurt and started crying about it.

Boo Hoo :crybaby:

Nothing bad about this thread (except to those who look for something devious in the purple fog)...thanks for this bright tidbit down memory's lane.

Showing my old age, I'll always remember the Logan game when Phil Johnson's Weber State Wildcats got a crack at the first instate game vs. Aggies. So excited & my brothers were saying Weber doesn't belong on the same floor as the bigs. There was a sign in the Aggies rabid student section showing a farmer holding up a thin Wildcat by the throat & the words: "Weber Who?" After the Wildcat's great last minute victory, a motel on Washington Blvd posted on their street-side sign: "Weber Who? Ask USU!" loved it!!

The memories of the best NCAA showings Weber State ever made (& probably ever will) with wins over North Carolina & Michigan State are sweet history!! Thanks Coach A & players.
