What the heck happened to NAU?

Looks like NAU took in 30 signees this year. They had 18 high school signees and 12 fbs transfers.

At first I thought they were pulling a Keeler and taking in every FBS player on the market, but then I found that they had 16 seniors leave and several players forego their scholarship. Two coaches left the program to join UC Davis.

Speculation seems to say that there is trouble in the lockerroom if that large of a number of players decided to give up football and two coaches moved laterally to UC Davis.

We need four coaches, any good ones left there?

Their message board looks like it was evacuated with haste. Not a damn posting on there.

It's hard to have a conversation with myself on NAU's board. It's always been crickets and tumbleweeds over there.

No idea what's gone on other than two assistant coaches leaving. The defensive backs coach and offensive coordinator left to return to their alma mater - UC Davis. I guess I don't find that all that odd.

Losing 16 seniors is expected but if they signed an additional 12 players on top of that that means 12 additional players have left the program. NAU has traditionally been pretty tight lipped (for coaches and the university administration it's a perk of having a less passionate, less nosy fan base) about player movement or drama within the program. Their website roster is still set for the end of last season. The spring game will reveal some info. I'm going to cry is Elijah Marks, Emmanuel Butler, Case Cookus or Joe Logan leave.

Holy smokes, they do exist!

Didn't realize the coaches were moving to their alma maters. That makes sense. Every team has a few players give up football every year, but 12 is pretty excessive. Usually, the players that hang up their cleats are full time bench riders, though so I wouldn't sweat too much.

 Yeah....finding an NAU fan on the internet is akin to a Bigfoot sighting. It occurs rare enough in person that I annoy my family and friends by going out of my way to talk to folks I see wearing NAU gear.

I listened to an interview on the internet with Coach Souers on NAU's recruiting class and he commented that 24 students graduated, not the 16 listed as seniors. Must have been players who were juniors in regard to athletic eligibility but seniors academically.
