What will the 2018 Season Bring?

An embarrassment of riches...

Will anyone be able to stop the Eagles from throwing for 500+ yards a game?

Limu-Jones now listed as a wide receiver (my thought when he signed, think Kaufman)

Grady and Limu-Jones outside with all the other talent at WR, a senior QB and OL should spell UNSTOPPABLE

Not sure about McPherson's recovery, haven't seen anything, and several serviceable backs. Like the ones we signed this class.

Defense has all the talent necessary to get stops. Deep at DB and Senior DL with Williams, Foerstal, Tiuli, Jordan, et al... Let's just say I expect A LOT more from the defensive squad

Coaching? Are they there yet?

Not sure about Williams' status since that unfortunate incident involving a truck and an apartment complex wall.

I'd doubt he's "out," but I'm sure there'll be some sort of punishment meted out.

I don't know how excited I am for the DL. They were atrocious last year. Not just bad, but *really* bad. I'm sure a lot of that can be attributed to Tiuli being out pretty much all season, but you can't blame it all on one guy being out. It's very possible this group is a strength this year instead of a liability, but it's going to require a mountain of improvement. So I guess I'm in agreement, I expect a LOT more from this group as well.

Should I take it by the lack of feedback, there are too many unknowns heading into the season or like a couple of the predictions it's a done deal and we should be booking for Frisco already (we know the bizzon already are)

Yeah, it’s been pretty slow around here lately.

Tough schedule, but I see at least 7-8 wins there. NAU on the road for the second game and then on to Pullman. And Central with RH at the helm is not a gimme.

I’m interested in seeing how much the offense progresses in the off-season. It definitely took a step back last season, but I think we’ll have all the tools to be great on that side the ball this year. We need to make good use of those two big receievers.

We should be a little bigger on the interior of the defensive line this year with 3-4 really big bodies there.

Huge long shot, but how great would it be to go into Pullman and grab another win? :)

Getting a win in Pullman wouldn't be as big a shock considering all the turmoil they have had since last year. The money issues...coach out the door, but not...the money issues....new AD...money issues. This might be the weakest WSU team we have faced.

I know I say this every time we play "up," but I fully expect a W in pullman. Two teams with opposite trajectories, and WSU facing some truly horrible adversity this off season.

Nice breakdown. Can't see the offense be anything but spectacular this season. High hopes the OC learned a lot after being thrown in just before the season began. Really pleased they recognize Limu-Jones for the talent he has and will put him in a position to influence how defenses have to play us. Like Grady, hope he stays healthy. So many other skill players who can contribute it's mind boggling at the FCS level. Looking for the Blitzkrieg offense this season. Hitting them from every angle and quickly.

Honestly, can't really understand things on the defensive side of the ball. Thought we had the best mix of coaches on defense, but it hasn't translated. Feel like Eastern recruits aggressive players but doesn't live or die by that aggression on game day. Subtlety on defense isn't working. We have some young talent, turn them loose; the result can't be worse than the results. (that feels like a yogi bearism) Any news on Williams?

WSU is facing a myriad of issues. They have plenty of talent and if their signal caller can keep it together is a tough out at best. Having the CWU warm up game is huge. Personally, I like the CWU game and we should dominate as they will have no answer for our offense. If we can get Gubrud 2.0 aligned with all our newer weapons, it should be a barn burner.

Our schedule in general is tough. Guess I'll take this game by game as my general impression coming off last season is we could find ourselves on the wrong end of the score in too many contests. Looking forward to a good fall and quick start against CWU, then will see where it goes.

Anything less than 9 regular season wins would be a disappointment for me. This team has a ton of returning talent and a somewhat favorable schedule (at least for EWU standards).

I'm going to say 10-1, Big Sky Champs, 1st round bye and home field throughout.

Looks like D’londo Tucker was granted a 6th year of eligibIlity. The secondary should be very strong this year.

Saw that. Very good news for him and great news for the team. Like the way he plays.

go eags!

I'm guessing the Eags go 2-2 in these road games:

@NAU
@WAZZU
@Weber
@MSU

Assuming 9-2 prob at least a #8 seed who gives them a bye and a home game. It will probably come down to beating a MVC team like NDSU to get to Natty.

I don't know... there's some mysterious force we need to beat that's a far greater challenge. Each year, the defeat just before the natty gets even more rediculous. And just when we all thought it couldn't get even more bonkers - the helmet catch against YSU.

The Semifinal Saturday jinx. The only time we won a national semifinal was on a Friday. I'd argue that Sam Houston State just came out and beat us, even though it was close at the end. We played an absolute stinker the first time against Youngstown State. The other against Towson and Youngstown State part II required a defensive meltdown when we could've walked out with a win. In both games, we gave up a game-winning TD the last play of the season for the defense. It was a bad look each time, and just sort of encapsulates how our defense seems to cost us when It counts.
