NAU just beat a Native American school with less than 100 students 105-32. They were up by as much as 82 at one point. I'm not making this up. But it's still not as bad as EWU's 107-25 win over Portland Bible. College basketball has some real issues y'all.

Totally agree with you. Nothing entertaining about these type of games. I remember when in state teams did a home and home each season...those were the days. Hopefully NCAA could step in and make some scheduling rules...oh well.

pUkes 143 vs Mississippi State Valley Delta... 49 on Nov 8, but then again this kind of competition seems pretty common place anymore for them. Hell, I hope Weber keeps it closer than this on Dec 14, but then again why do I hope this? What does it matter? Oooh, that feels good, maybe I'm starting to get Rahe now.

After we beat west coast bible college:

They’re going to get a lot better now because of this. We’ve got a chance to have a really good basketball team,” Rahe said. “It may not look like it tonight ... we don’t like it tonight because it sucks, it’s hard.

if the whole sky are playing these games it will probably be something like 20-30 wins for the conference this season.

The conference needs to stop this crap. I thought the conference passed something a few years ago that penalized teams for playing these teams. New commissioner make some changes??

From the highlights on YouTube, it looked like 250 people attended the Bethesda game...I wasn’t one of them. I’m not paying to watch that garbage. Another easy W for Rahe to pad his record.

It wasn't well attended. Official attendance was listed at 2277. I was there and would say that is accurate.
This game was not highly competitive if closeness of the score is how you would define competitive. I wouldn't call any game garbage. Both sides fought hard. BU just doesn't have the talent level of WSU. I agree with everyone here that these sorts of games should be kept to no more than one per year. I also agree that rules need to be established for scheduling, just like they are for every other aspect of the game. I think it should come from the NCAA and be nationwide. The rule could be that all D1 teams have no more than 3 payout games, two that don't count and only one that does count. All other game contracts would be H n H, no 2 for 1 contracts. If the rule were to be violated, that team could not play in any post season events. I think things would change overnight and college basketball would become a lot more exciting for everyone. :coffee: Probably a pipedream.

There us no way that there were 2200 people there. What is sad is that we report off of total ticket sales. There are fewer season ticket holders than ever before. Jerry was supposed to have more power over the schedule as part of Randys extension. But that never happened. Top midmajors rarely play mire than one of these games. Olds the only thing that has changed overnight is Randy Rahes selfish priorities.

Nope. This time they counted heads. Total ticket sales would have been much higher, just off of Season tickets sold. 2277 still makes the place look empty. A lot of Ticket holders just didn't want to see Bethesda U. I certainly don't speak for everybody, and I prefer a higher level of competition, but I enjoy a blowout as well. I just don't think that coaches will change their ways until they are forced to. It's not just happening here at WSU. It's nationwide. It's a NCAA problem. It needs to be fixed at the level where it can only be fixed.

On the plus side of this crappy schedule is next years schedule. It should include home games with USU, UVU, BYU, and Fresno St. There will probably be a cupcake or two as well. :coffee:

This is another example of Randy just cruis'in to retirement. I know a lot of you have loathed Randy for years, but I was a huge fan of his. He had fire, passion, found blue-collar guys who were tough and could be developed. He really got the most from a lot of his talent. Now...its like he just wants to find a guy and ride that guy for all that he is worth. I really feel bad for Harding. Randy Rahe of 2009 or 2012 would have gotten him into the league. Not now and especially not by playing Bethesda.

Olds is right though...next years schedule should be better. I bet we end up playing BYU in Salt Lake or in Provo first, if it is a HnH deal still. I don't know if Pope will keep doing that. However, just to snub LK and da runnin utes, I'm sure that Pope and Smith will keep playing the HnH with Weber. Next year is a great opportunity for Weber to play three, maybe four, mid-major road games where they can get those teams to come back in two yeas when we play @USU and @UVU; getting the Y at home that year would be best. I'm sure Pope would totally be down for a deal like that. 2 years in a row in Provo and them come to Weber and establish a HnH after that.
