Montana because of their dominance in football? Weber State because of their proximity to ISU? How about Portland State, Montana State or E. Washington? Can't forget about N. Colorado, NAU or Sac. State. Here's my top three...
Personally, for me the team that I dislike the most is Montana. They are so dominant in football. It seems that they are the BSC icon on the national level. I know E. Washington had a great year last year, but year after year, Montana has been more consistant. And frankly, there isn't any college sport that is more exciting than college football. Oh sure, their basketball team isn't what it used to be. College basketball, especially at tournament time is a close second, though. I guess it's the swagger thing. The way it seems that they look down at the rest of the conference.
Next for me is Weber State. My experience with Weber State is pretty much limited to the days when BSU was in the BSC. Weber always had a decent basketball team and their players seemed to have that cocky swagger. You know, that arrogant swagger that annoys everyone. As far as football, I always thought that their football team played, well, let's just say less than squeaky clean. I don't know, maybe I can't quite put my finger on it. But I just don't like them.
Finally, E. Washington. First, let me preface this by saying that E. Washington itself is not the reason that I am not a fan. That said, I remember the days before they came into the conference. They seemed like they always had something to prove. I've been to the Cheney campus and at Spokane's Joe Albi Stadium for football games. I was a lot younger way back then. There were some pretty imtimidating people at the stadium. There were intimidating people in the Spokane area, too. In broad daylight, we watched a drug deal going down in front of ChiChi's on river in downtown Spokane while we were waiting for a table. There was no attempt by those involved to disguise it. Here's some money and there's your baggy. I don't know, but Spokane always gave me the creeps. Just over a year ago, I had a car stolen in Portland, Oregon. The next day, that same car was ticketed for illegal parking in front of the courthouse in Spokane. It's hard to believe, but before the car was towed away, it was stolen again! Six months passed, and the car was eventually abandoned but totally trashed. (Side note... I was threatened with a warrant if I didn't pay the tardy parking violation). For some reason, I've always associated Spokane with thugs. And I always seem to associate E. Washington with Spokane. I hate Spokane. Sorry Eagle fans.
