The semi-retired John Wykoff has generously given his time as a features writer for the PSU Athletics Department since April of 2008. His work, which regularly appears on the GoViks.com website, has been picked up by numerous hometown newspapers as well as inspired local coverage by media outlets.
A 1965 graduate of PSU and former sports writer, Wykoff has had a 35-year career in Portland as a public relations consultant and has been an avid follower of PSU Athletics. In 1987-1989, he was president of the Viking Athletic Association, a forerunner to today’s Viking Backers. He is a Portland native and graduated from Milwaukie High School.
Wykoff is a member of an all-PSU family. His wife Angela, a civil engineer, has three PSU degrees. His son John T., and daughter Nicole also are PSU alums, as are his brother and sister-in-law Jolly and Leslie Wykoff.
Angela is past president of the PSU Alumni Association and head of the PSU Advocates. John T. was editor of the Vanguard, where his dad also gained news experience along with his time in sports at the Portland Daily Reporter.
