Who is our next Coach going to be?

I would make this a poll but I don't have a clue who we are going to be looking at. No one on the current coaching staff should be considered after the 5 pathetic showings so far this year.

Just got home from the Davis game. I miss mac. I feel bad for our senior players...

I hope Mac didn't see the Davis game. He would he so disappointed to see the trenches in 2012.

Its hard to even dis our current head coach, he didn't come to Weber to be a head coach.

What can we say or think or complain about? Its all on John L...how can it not be? Does ark have a win yet?

You wan't to blame someone for this horrible 0-5 start I suggest you take your anger out on Jerry Bovee and John L. Smith.
Jody Sears is a good coach and a Great guy thrown into a horrible situation. I hope they give him a chance. :twocents:

Sears has had 5 chances, so far his grade would be a F-. Horrible situation sure, but the 3-3-5 defense was his, you would think they could stop the passing game with the extra DB's but it's been worse than ever. QB containment is non-existent.

Offense is offensive, a senior QB making bad decisions (probably because he is running for his life behind a young O-line), poor play calling, etc.

WSU was a dark horse canidate and now, two or three wins are looking doubtful. You can't blame the 2 FBS loses for us being out of the playoff's, at this point we probably would have a hard time beating a NAIA team.

It's deja vu all over again, HC Jerry Graybeal = HC Jody Sears = good guys but bad WSU teams. If I was Jerry Bovee I am never looking at EWU Coordinators again for canidates at Weber.

Mac is not the answer. He wasn't a coach the last few years, just a PR guy. He was getting senile and had no control over the players or coaches...he had a few good players that we are desperately missing, especially on the O line. Sears is a good guy that has been put in a bad situation, but now needs to show his leadership as a head coach. Get rid of Hammer a
s the OC! I've seen better play calling in peewee football! Sending in three plays so that the play changes over and over and takes forever to develop..kills us! Sending in Booker to carry the ball after being out of practice hurt all week and not carrying the ball the whole game...fumble. it is the same plays over and over...you can see what they are going to do from the stands, of coarse the defense is going to know where the ball is going. The one good thing I saw him do is throw the ball to Tuckett since he couldn't get a block to save his life. Hoke should be on the bench and something needs to be done with our defensive coverage. There has got to be someone else on this team that will stay with their guy..not give them 10 yards, let them get behind them, and never look back at the ball! Fundamentals they should know at this level of play. And I'm sorry...stupid personal fouls that kill us...sit their butts on the bench! So frustrating. I feel bad for the handful of guys with heart who are trying to win.

AMEN!! to "wsucatfan" & "footballfan"
I couldn't agree more...WSU Football is obviously backsliding again. Will be a tough go to repair...lost respect, lost fans and back to the "drop football" wolves at the door. Don't want to kick Coach Sears, etc. when they are down...hope for a "cure" sometime soon. Liked a former OC earlier under McBride that went to the Aggies to coach O-line when Anderson hired on as head C. At WSU, his play calling was really good and an Aggie fan & friend said he was well liked...Anderson said it was loss of good assistant when this guy left for the midwest...name escapes me though??

I'm guessing there are alot more than just a 'handful of guys with heart who are trying to win' - I'm guessing EVERY player out there, who has busted his tail since August, has the desire to win. But, I agree with almost everything else you posted. The players just aren't being put in the best situations to be ABLE to win, especially the downright awful play design and play calling. Are there any other pass plays besides the quick hits to the WRs that they've probably thrown 60 times this year, and been successful maybe 5? Do they have any other run plays besides the zone read - which also gets blown up most the time. If adjustments have been made since the beginning of the season, they've been hard to see. If there are other plays, no reason to hold back now! Time and time again the offense has sputtered or turned the ball over and a hang dog defense has to trudge back out there against a fired up offense from the other side. Not saying that the defense doesn't have it's problems - it got steamrolled in the first half against Cal Davis. But, the offense has scored just 12 points TOTAL in the first half of the first 5 games. That will bring down any team. The O-line may be a bit overmatched - scheme around that! If your QB is getting pressure all the time - scheme around that too! But...do something different because the same ol' plays aren't working. Also, if the starters aren't getting it done - put in others and give them a shot. At this point I gotta say that includes Hoke. Bad interceptions, uneven play, even if he is getting pressured. #14 has looked pretty dang good the few times he's been out there - at least give him a chance in 'real' game time against the first team and see what happens. Or, give one of the younger QBs some time, and let them develop. The same thing goes with every other position. But...something HAS to change with the schemes so that these players first BELIEVE they can succeed and then they can go out and do it. Cal Poly would be a good place to start! :twocents:

Nothing against Sears. He was put into a bad situation and expected to win after all the troubles in the off-season. But after watching the game on Saturday night, I could tell, he isn't ready to be a HC. Maybe after a couple of years, but not right now. Heavens, the team might be better next year under his leadership, who knows. All I know is that Eck should have been hired last year and not JLS. Easy to say that now, but from a buddy who coaches at Utah, I heard that Eck had the job, but JLS came slithering to Bovee and convinced him to eat the apple. Weber lost a handful of really good players because of JLS and now we are definitely hurting.

Personally, I think the defense has a lot of potential and that it is pretty good. Bad thing is that they are always on the field. The offense can't do anything.

I am still a Coach Sears fan and think that given time with HIS pick of assistant coaches he can get the job done.
p.s. Matt Hammer sux as O.C.
