Who will host?

Magic number?

Is it too soon for the Wildcats to think about what it will take to host the Big Sky tournament?

For the Wildcats themselves, the answer is yes. All season long Rahe has stressed that the most important game is the next one and the players have never talked about any future game other than the next one on their schedule.

But for the fans and media, it's probably OK to speculate.

With six games left, four of which are at the Dee Events Center, WSU is up two spots in the loss column over Portland State and Montana. Should the 'Cats win their next three games -- which includes Saturday's home game against PSU and a game at Montana the following week -- the worst WSU could do would be to tie with the Grizzlies and Vikings. But WSU would own the head-to-head tiebreaker.

There are plenty of other scenarios as well, however it might be a good idea not to look too far ahead. At the start of the league season PSU fans were complaining that the Rose Garden was being used by the Portland Trailblazers on March 11, the day of the Big Sky tournament final, so if the Vikings hosted the tournament it couldn't be played in the NBA arena. Since the 'Cats are in the lead now, most people around the conference are thinking about coming to Ogden.

You guys will host. Don't panic and play just the way WSU has played over the last month and a half, and you guys will be fine. Whatever you do, DO NOT let the freakin' griz overtake you in the standings! I'm sorry my Bobcats couldn't take care of business Saturday night, but like I said in an earlier thread, we tend to just pee down our legs when presented with a golden opportunity, especially if it's against the griz. Just reinforces our inferiority complex I guess.

I'll be rooting for you guys - good luck 'Cats from a different kind of 'Cat!

I'm with Rahe, taking it one game at a time. However, as a fan, its really exciting thinking about the possibility of hosting. I hope they keep the student section as General Admission like in 2003. Also, last year I talked to PSU students, they all said that their section was GA, which is how it should be. So, its not a Big Sky thing.
The two games this week are huge!!! I wonder if anything is being done on campus to get students out to the games. I'd love to see the student section all in purple for both games that would be awesome, and definitely intimidating.

DO NOT settle for second place. The answer to the question that is the title of this thread MUST be WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY!

Weber State will host the BIG SKY TOURNAMENT once again and then advance to the Big Dance and show the world that the 'Cats are out to prove everyone wrong.

most likley WSU will indeed get the tourney.... in order to lose it WSU will have to lose atleast 2 games. One to the GRIZ... and another to MSU, or whoever you have left. If you beat the griz then you get it pretty much. But i cant wait for the WSU and griz game. IF weber does lose 2 games AND Montana wins out. then montana would host. those are the only 2 with a real chance now.

Standard-Examiner:

Should the Wildcats win at Montana on Thursday, WSU will clinch the top seed and bring the tournament to Ogden. But if the 'Cats lose, they'll have to win their three remaining games -- at home against Northern Arizona and Sacramento State followed by the regular-season finale at Montana State -- to guarantee the No. 1 seed. That's assuming that Montana wins its game Saturday at home against Idaho State and then next week at Northern Colorado.

If the Wildcats and Grizzlies (10-3 Big Sky Conference) end up tied, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head, which WSU currently leads 1-0. If the teams split the season series, the next tiebreaker involves how the teams fared against the third-place team. Portland State (8-5) is currently in third and WSU swept the Vikings, while Montana split its series with PSU. However, Montana State, Idaho State and Northern Colorado are all 6-6 in position to finish third as well.

But as of now, WSU is guaranteed a bye into the semifinals of the tournament, which will either

Ahhhhh, back in the friendly confines of the DEE!!! I was on egrizz last night and some of their fans think that it would be easier to beat the Cats at the Dee than on their home court? HUH?? Not that I want to be cocky, and that I hope the Grizz finish out strong, but the DEE? Do they know our home record?? Do they know how loud and crazy that place can be? Weber's DEE actually brings in DI size crowds, the Dee isn't the Stott Center or the Hornets Next. Weber doesn't host like NAU...Weber averages 9-10 thousand at conference tourny games. I hope that the DEE will be packed...This team has earned and deserves a packed house.

I think you should have the first 3-4 rows of section C tickets reserved for purple pak members. Then you won't have to worry about making the student section reserved seating or general admission. Keeps someone who hasn't been to all the games taking you guy's spot.
