Who will make the Big Sky Tourney?

Wow the teams are really bunched up in the middle. Good thing we(and SUU) are the only ones not worried about the tie breaker rules.

Here is my wild guess at how things finish:

1. Weber
2. Montana
3. North Dakota
4. Southern Gonzaga
5. Northern Arizona
6. Portland State
7. Eastern Washington

That is a good list. The only one with no chance at second place is SUU. Everyone else could finish in about any position. We are in the drivers seat, but have 6 of 8 games on the road to finish it. The next two weeks are everything to us. A split would be OK, 3 of 4 would be good, and 4 of 4 would probably get us the host job, no matter what happened in the last 4 games of the regular season. I've looked at everyone's schedules. Southern Gonzaga and Southern Canada have the easiest row to hoe. I would guess that they both will land in the top four. Beyond that, I don't have a clue. ISU and Sac have been playing better and could make some noise as we close this thing out. There is a lot of parity around the league this year. Also, I think SUU can win a game or two. I just hope it is not against us. :twocents:

This week the Montana's visit UND and UNCO. Best case scenarios is that all four end up with splits. Won't happen but...would be nice. I bring this up because I thinking UM is going to have quite the fight on their hands at both locations.

Food for thought:
UNCvs 11-0 & 6-0
UNDvs 7-4 & 4-1

UM@ 5-6 & 3-3
MSU@ 4-6 & 2-3

...and because Weber is the only one the really matters:
WSU@ 2-6 & 2-2

I'm not following the numbers. I want to consider them, I just don't know how.

Help me. Is it home records vs road records of the four competitors?

From the records, I would think that the possibilities for road wins are more likely at UND. However, anything is possible. For us, it really doesn't matter who wins those games, as long as we can get some wins on the road.

Weber has gotta take care of business and win on the road. Winning at both SUU and ISU are definitely possibilities. Weber just needs to play their game, cut down on the TOs, play good solid defense and the Cats should pull off two W's.

I AGREE THEY NEED TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, BUT IS ANYONE ELSE BESIDES ME A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT THE GAME IN CEDAR... SUU PLAYS AN UGLY BRAND OF HOOPS AND THEIR COACH OUGHT TO BE FIRED, BUT I'M A LITTLE CONCERNED... THEY ALWAYS PLAY OK AGAINST WEBER.

AS FOR ISU... IF WE PLAY IN THE HOLT ARENA WE WIN... IF WE PLAY IN REED'S GYM WE STILL WIN BUT IT WILL BE A BETTER HOOPS ATMOSPHERE... IT WILL BE CLOSER!!!

THE FIRST GAME I REMEMBER IN REED'S GYM I EVER SAW WAS 2003. NIC SPARROW, BRAD BARTON, JERMAINE BOYETTE, SLOBODAN OCOKOLIC, CHOCOLATE THUNDER :notworthy: VERY CLOSE GAME. WE SURE PISSED OFF A BUNCH OF IDAHO STATE FANS... REMEMBER TAL "AT LEAST WE BEAT YA IN FOOTBALL!" BACK WHEN THE ISU AD WAS AT WEBER STATE... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

Great memories in the Reed. That win in 03 was epic. I didn't think we were going to get out of the Reed alive. Because we won was the only reason why it was the best. But the experience when the former ISU AD BUB himself, called us little Shizzles was quite the experience too. The ISU fans around us were like..."Uh, this is our AD, what a loser!" Catcat tried to apologize too...what a wank!

I'm nervous about both games.

SUU: Any team that doesn't play a physical game and goes to SUU and gets beat to death on the court :dead: can get rattled and taken out of rhythm-- exactly what they're counting on. Add the roadie, their fans, and the fact they are in-state and a supposed rival, and yeah, I'm nervous :? . SUU plays tough at home and it will be surprising if they don't knock a team or two off at home.

ISU: They gave Weber more than they wanted at the DEC and I think they are better than where they currently sit the standings. They are 5-2 at home vs BSC and it's always tough to play in the potato cellar. I can't back this up with anything I've looked up, but I say the Bengals go as Hansen goes, and if he is hot Weber could be in for a difficult game. It's gonna take a long time for me to get over the loss in 2012

I'll admit it too. I'm worried about our upcoming visit to Cedar. When SUU played us at the Dee. Weber was taken completely by surprise by their toughness and drive. They really wanted to win. The Cats seemed like they were just going through the motions. Weber has to bring its A game every night and that has to happen on Thursday. Can't let SUU keep it close like Sac did. Take advantage of chances and hold onto the ball. I think the birdies were the only team to shoot a high percentage against the Cats from outside and our bigs had a really hard time containing their bigs. However, I do think Weber is a different team than from the one that faced the birdies about a month ago. Weber is tougher and playing with a lot more confidence. I'm sure they will throw a press at us and run a match up type zone, much like the first time, when they are on defense. I did really like how Robinson would switch the zones based on personnel and he kept Rahe guessing the entire game. Thankfully, Berry was there to help the Cats and save us from the line.

As for the teams that'll make the conference tourney or not.

I'm thinking SUU, MSU, PSU, and ISU or SAC aren't going to make the tournament. MSU is falling apart and in Jon's latest write up, he points out how badly the Bobs are playing on offense. They are a better team than last year, but so is everyone else.

The Weber game is our last in Holt Arena this year. We host NAU and SAC in Reed Gym. See you all at Holt next Monday night! (Oh, and bring your parking fee. Don't be like Utah fishermen in Idaho -- they bring one pair of underware and a $20 bill, never change either one. :-D )

predicting the conf tourney right now i guess there is no way to know other than no suu. lol

we haven't seen anything like this since 2004....that is if it ends this close as it is now.
