Why does ISU football end earlier?

I've noticed through the years that ISU tends to end the season early. Anybody know the reason for this trend? I would assume there would be added benefit to extending the season another week. You hear the talking heads at Espn and others talk about more practices creating a positive feedback.
 
ISU would have ended this weekend against Cal Poly, but they traded that game to Weber so they could play Oklahoma earlier in the season.
