Why won't WSU back Mac?

2010 Texas Tech on Nov 20? Thats the week before the playoffs. That isn't very wise of us to do. If we play 2 FBS in 2010 we will be expected to go undefeated in conf or 7-1 if we don't have an OOC FCS game.

Same with 2011 as we have USU and Wyo.

If WSU wants to show they back Mac they wouldn't be doing this and they would be making a schedule that has the playoffs in mind. We aren't ISU anymore.

Is Graybeal still making the schedule? WOW, can't believe the lack of foresight...... :x

This just tells the fans WSU doesn't care about the football team getting in the playoffs. UM gets the last laugh with their week schedule this year. They are 10-0. We could be at least 8-2 with the OOC as them. And beating CP we'd be 9-2 and in the playoffs for sure.

What they care about is $$$ and that's it. They don't give a DAMN about their fans, or really getting into the playoffs. What they care about is being in the top half of the conference and $$$. If they make the playoffs than that's a nice little bonus as far as the administration is concerned. They seem to be completely happy drawing their 7,500 fans and don't really look for ways to improve.
Maybe I'm wrong but how else do you explain no marketing, and playing 2 D1 games a year. There is A LOT of people up at WSU that don't give a DAMN about WSU as long as their paycheck clears.
I say cut the dead weight at WSU and make a push to be GREAT!
Isn't being "GREAT" part of the fight song?

The AD makes the schedule.... BOVEE. Even though Graybeal, a former football coach, didn't know how to schedule either.

It sucks to see all these negative threads lately but this topic really is a joke. You can't blame Bovee for CSU & Wyo but only Wyo was set for 2011, since he got hired we now have USU in the same year. As for the Texas Tech, who knows when that was added.

Also, we can't play SUU again until we are done playing 2 FBS a year. We have to go to SUU next. Its our turn. This means its WSUs fault the series is not ongoing. We can't do this and play 2 FBS in the same year.

4 home conf games
@ suu
@ fbs
@ fbs

Because we can't get a 5th home game we can't play SUU until we are done with 2 FBS per year. IF we do just one then we can go to SUU and then bring in a 5th home game against an FCS or a non DI.

1 OOC game has to be at home, even WSU knows better than to sell season tkts with 4 games.

So...if we have 2 FBS next year we can't go to SUU. And in 2011 we can't go to SUU because we have 2 FBS. So we may have to wait until 2012 to play SUU again and the last game was 2006.

WSU vs SUU All-Time Games
Year Winner Score Location Series
1984 Weber State 29-10 Ogden 1-0
1985 Weber State 62-20 Ogden 2-0
1987 Weber State 36-26 Ogden 3-0
1988 Weber State 49-30 Ogden 4-0
1989 Weber State 42-7 Ogden 5-0
1990 Weber State 37-21 Cedar 6-0
1991 Weber State 33-14 Ogden 7-0
1992 Weber State 35-24 Ogden 8-0
1993 Weber State 43-39 Ogden 9-0
1994 Weber State 20-14 Cedar 10-0
1997 Weber State 33-32 Ogden 11-0
1999 SUU 39-7 Ogden 11-1
2001 SUU 28-21 Cedar 11-2
2003 Weber State 13-3 Ogden 12-2
2004 SUU 34-31 Ogden 12-3
2005 Weber State 27-10 Cedar 13-3
2006 Weber State 24-13 Ogden 14-3

The longest gap was 2 years since 1984. Right now its 3 yrs and counting and could be 5+ if not next fall. And its our fault, not cool.

If WSU MUST play 2 D1 games at least make them somewhat winnable games, and also make them close enough for the fans to go to the games if they would like.
Lubbock Texas is one heck of a long drive.

This looks like we are taking the ISU route, maybe we will add Okla too, i hope not. We better be going down to Cedar instead of Norman...or Fayetteville (according to Talhad)!!!!!!!!!!

Ya I agree only one FBS a year. Or maybe 2 every 3 or 4 years. It is good to play a big name like Texas Tech a win would do wonders for the program. If were gonna go into and FBS school and play them in football at least demand a 1 in 1 for basketball as well. If we are going to complain about the adminstrators we need to talk with them at utah state they have a section at their websight called ask the AD. Where is our accountability???

This year, scheduling TWO winnable FBS games somewhat within driving distance was a good gamble, but we lost. We should be 8-2 right now, but we're not, and scheduling is not the problem.

Last year, Hawaii and Utah were also good scheduling choices, as UH was winnable, UU is nearby, and both were probably good for recruiting. 8-)

But next year, both Arizona State and Texas Tech, with the Red Raiders late in the season? WTF!?!??

I agree that we should only be scheduling one FBS game per year, unless it's a 12 game season.
