WILDCAT"S thoughts on Wyoming game.

Just got home from my cabin in Wyoming, and am still a little peeved about Saturday night, anyway here is what I thought.

The good
1. Our O-line is as we all thought BEASTS.
2. Our running backs are all really good to.
3. Hoke is the man

The Bad
1. Our defense is obviously lacking in stopping the run, (of course this is the first game so we cant really base our assumptions yet.)
2. WHO THE H##L HAD WEBER RUN RUN RUN on our last offensive possesion? We are up 4 with 4 to go and we run three straight runs? WHY NOT PLAY TO WIN, Weber should have come out and tried to beat WYO deep, Wyo was expecting the run, WHY NOT PASS THE FRICKEN BALL?
3. WHERE WAS BOOKER IN THE 2nd HALF? HE WAS A BEAST IN THE FIRST HALF, WHY WASNT HE PLAYING MORE?

All in all it should have been a win, I am still furious at the playcalling on our last drive. I knew Wyoming was going to win when we folded up our chairs on that last drive. Give the players credit, especially the offensive ones, Hoke was great, and so was the rest of the offense. Now lets look towards Utah State next week, and hope that our d plays a little better and hope for an injury less game.

Another thing I didn't like was Wyoming's last drive Weber defense went into prevent mode. Which we all know never really works. Prevent defense is never the answer. Unless it's the last play of the game Hail Mary throw. Other than that prevent is just worthless. But it was a good game all in all. A lot of positives and I really like Mike Hoke. The kid has some legs.

Thank you Wildcat!! I was at the game screaming at the coaches to pass. Wyoming was cheating and expecting us to run. A pass over the top would have netted 20 - 30 yards easy. But no we run run run and lose. Win the damn game by putting it out of reach. Score!!

Booker blows up the 1st half and then wooosh, they don't use him after that, over 100 yards in the 1st half alone. we go into a prevent offense, playing not to lose instead of playing to win. AND, AND, AND, AND, on the last play when wyoming scores we have 10 men on the field, ouch. earlier on a punt return i think we had 9 on the field.

play calling was weak, and the defense can't wrap and tackle to save their position. how many times did we have their QB in the grasp, only to see him become a teflon man again, and again....

gotta regroup, but this was our victory that we GAVE to them......

I completely agree. The defense and special teams had a hard time and made some costly mistakes, but I still blame that loss almost entirely on coaching.

I think the coaches intentionally threw that game, for whatever reason (and I could give you a couple hundered thousand of them). I think USU did the same thing. And, I think we will do the same thing again, if presented with the same situation this Saturday. I don't think we need to get upset about it untill we have enough money and rep. to get home and home contracts instead of guarenteed win contracts. Heck, we do the same thing with the Western Montana's of the world, or, at least we used to. :wall:

I'll have no part of the conspiracy theories, I just watched Fire in the Sky last night on Netflix. :willybs:

Teams get the same amount of $$$ no matter who wins the contest.

When fans think that their coaches intentionally lost a game, then that is proof of how badly the end of the game was coached. I agree with champs07, teams get paid the same no matter who wins or loses, but it is hard not to think some type of conspiracy occurred. That ending is definitely subject to scrutiny by us, the fans. Hell...what was Hammer doing? Did he forget that the team who scores the most points wins the game. Playing against an FBS wouldn't you want to ensure the lead by scoring again? I can't believe that Weber was trying to run out the clock with 10mins to go. Heavens, I have to wonder about the coordinators sometimes. Are they really trying to help the team win?

I think Hammer is showing promise. He is steadily improving and I openly will give him praise. Unfortunately, he is still learning. Hopefully he learns from this one and applies it in the future. Northern Colorado can attest to what happens when you take your foot off the pedal last year. :thumb:
