The article said Gamal fowler is the only wide receiver being signed, what happened to Martavius Redmond from West Jordan who broke all sorts of records & probably the best wideout in the state??? He was still committed to Weber at the end of December.

The new WSU coaching staff decided not to retain his offer so Martavius decided to go to SUU.

That's a bummer. The cat we landed from Florida at DB/WR looks pretty special though.

Looks like we got a solid recruiting class. I did notice that the Polynesian pipeline seems to be closed or was this just an off year?

I guess Coach Smith doesn't care where players come from, which is good. I rather take the best 2 or 3 players from an certain area, then to try to take 8 players from Hawaii or Oklahoma just for the novelty and only have 2 of those recruits pan out. Saying that there are a few of the Oklahoma players that have made impact on the team.

I've spent the last couple of days looking over the players portfolios who were signed; reading articles, looking up their stats, etc. With the time that he had, and the expectations that have been placed on his shoulders, I think Coach Smith had a solid recruiting class. He knows that the pieces are already in place for a conference run, as long as the existing players buy into his system, which will be tough. I've heard there are a number of prima-Donnas who want to do their own thing. Which was the problem with our team last year. Too many damn cliques!! There wasn't a lot of TEAM ball being played. Coach Smith is going to forge these players into a team, which should equal wins.

There are still 4 scholies available. I'm pretty sure Smith has a great idea of who will be taking these spots. I know that a couple of drop downs will inevitably be joining the team and there is a chance that Weber will still add a couple of JC players. I hope we find out soon. Exciting!!

I work at the school here in Boise where Braden Corpus and McKague play, and you're getting a couple pretty good ballplayers who should have a fine career at Weber.

I agree..both should be very good additions. I've watched Cody play since he first put on pads and it has almost always seemed too easy for him. A lot of kids take it for granted but he developed a great worth ethic and consistently hits the weights and stays active in other sports primarily as a way to stay in football shape. He's lean at 215lbs. not for lack of trying to get on some TE weight but he's laid a good foundation for the coaches at Weber State to get it on him...and I know they will :-D He and Braden have actually played together on the same team since they were very young and on the same Optimist(pee-wee/pop warner to those not familiar with it) team up through H.S. at Borah; Cody was actually the QB in the early years. It would be pretty cool to see that chemistry work at Weber State...I'm a fan now :-D

Welcome to the board Zen.

I agree with with you, from what I have seen. John L said as much at the signing party, Wednesday night. These kids may get a chance to play righ out of the gate. A lot depends on the relative health of the upperclassmen in their positions. Our starting QB just had shoulder surgery and I think we only have a couple of returning tight ends. Whether they play or use the year to acclimate to D1 football and the college experience, they are going to have a great time at WSU. We are all looking forward to it.

By the way, we all think that BSU must have fallen asleep on these guys.
