WILDCATS VS HORNETS

It seems strange to have a conference game so early in the season, and although its still early in the season, it seems the Hornets are a much better team this season, we got off to a rough start, but with a win at home to Utah, I think the Wildcats have finaly hit their stride.

Let Big Sky Conference play Begin.

GO WILDCATS

Im loving that Sac is looking much improved than last yr and hoping Katz can get the team in the conf tourney soon if not now!

also im loving UNC at 7-0 and lookin real good!

this yr's conf is gonna be a lot of fun, it doesn't look like anyone's gonna be a push over.

Agreed. I think this conference top to bottom is much better...what happened yesterday, UNC's great start, etc. I think our conference champ hopefully will get a good seed from the NCAA this year.

So far, stinger-glasses not withstanding, I'm seeing the top four seeds looking like this:

1. MSU
2. Weber
3. Sac
4. UNC

This is not necessarily in order, though I do believe that Erik Rush will probably get the auto-bid for the Kitties. If Weber's and Sac's improvement continues, any one of 2-4 could sneak a second bid at the expense of a mid-range B(C)$ program on a horrible year. More likely is 1-2 teams in the NIT. But look for a few to get into some of the lower-tier post-season tournaments if they continue from last year.

Didn't you also say football would win the NC?

SH, you gotta come back to earth.

1. I am in no way saying that Sac will win the NCAA Tournament.

2. I am not saying that Sac will win the BSC Tournament. MSU will.

3. If we make a post-season tournament, it will likely be one of the lesser tournaments, i.e. one of the ones of lesser prestige than the NIT.

4. IF the BSC gets 2 (possible) or 3 (highly unlikely) NCAA bids, in all likelihood, we will not be one of them. I'm thinking MSU to the NCAAs and Weber/UNC to the NIT. We're probably the only other school with a shot at a lesser tournament. IF the improvement continues.

5. Regardless, we will have an EXTRAORDINARY season by our usual standards.

I just don't see where you can look at this team and think they are post season bound? I would be happy if they qualify for the BSC Tournament, and I think that is a realistic goal. But to say they will qualify for a national post season tournament is foolish.

This team has played hard, but there schedule has given them an opportunity to improve. The teams Sac has beaten have a combined record of 8-23 (Davis 3-4, OSU 2-3, Houston Bap. 1-6, Bethany 2-10). Even if you throw out Bethany the D1 schools are 6-13. No doubt last year Sac would have lost most of these games, so I'm very happy with the progress. But to say this team will go 10-6 (your prediction on another post) and make a national post season tourney are not realistic.

Love the enthusiasm but you should pull back a little on your expectation - don't want you to be to upset when Sac doesn't live up to those numbers.

You guys have to learn to not take SH seriously :)

Sometimes he makes great sense, other times he's purposefully being goofy to stir the pot (Carmazzi as the second coming, Football going 14-0 and winning the NC this year)

Unfortunately I will miss tonights game. I have to attend a company holiday party I was invited to. Here is hoping for a Hornet win. They will have their hands full with Weber State, but they have been playing highly motivated and I am hoping for the best.

Go Hornets!

Anyone go to the game last night that can comment on it? I checked the box score and Sac took a 2 point lead into halftime but were completely blown out in the second half. Looks like Weber made some adjustments at halftime and Katz couldn’t find an answer to them. Judging from the stats, the Hornets put up a good fight for a good part of the game. The Hornets were 22 of 29 (75.9%) from the free throw line and kept that ridiculous stretch of consecutive games with a 3 pointer alive.

I was there. Despite the loss it was a good game for the guys. We were up by two at the half, but it easily could have been 8 or 10. Unfortunately, I've noticed the team has a problem of coming out flat after half time and this game was no exception. We kept up with Weber for about the first half of the second half, but once we went down we couldn't keep up. I was impressed with the heart of this team though. Even with 2:00 to go, down by 10 they were still hustling. The improvement from last season is definitely there. Last season they would have been down by 15 at the half and lost by 25 or 30.

We played very well. Weber tightened the screws halfway through the second half and closed the door. We were playing very polished ball, trading punches equally, but then weber just pulled away. We started taking bad shots and nothing was falling. They did pretty good on the free throws at one time being 15/15.
