Congratulations to Cherry. We all know, as much as we hate to admit it sometimes, that he is a hell of a great player and definitely deserves this opportunity.
 
I hope he can stick there. He is a very talented guy and a proven winner. So much of making it in the NBA is landing in the right spot for your skills and the teams needs. :nod: :nod:
 
Cherry and Lillard will always be linked together.

Great story! It's nice to see that era of Big Sky basketball continue in the NBA. I wonder if Lillard had anything to do with Cherry going to Montana?
 
I know that we looked at him. I'm not sure if he decided or we decided that he didn't fit our program, but that was the outcome with us. He ended up at Montana and that was a good fit for him. :thumb:
 
I was under the impression that he had been offered by the staff, but since Lillard signed the year before, Cherry didn't think he would get the maximum amount of notoriety and wanted to go somewhere he'd be more appreciated? I guess...or that is what I heard. Cherry really wanted Mook, but the Grizz didn't have any spots and he was also friends with Lillard. So, this is where he ended up. Good thing too.
 
Where was the kid from UND finally drafted? He was supposed to have been a first rounder, wasn't he?

Dang. I've been busy with homework and classes and whatnot all weekend and up until now today and I hadn't seen that yet. Really sucks for Will. I definitely hope he lands on his feet somewhere else.
 
Hello again. I hadn't seen anything here yet, so I just thought I'd mention that Will agreed to a contract with the Cavs yesterday, and that will make his first game with them against Dame and the Blazers. Cool for Will, and it would be even cooler to see him get some time against Dame.

That is great to hear. I hope Will can stick with the Cavs. What a team to get picked up by.

These were posted on eGriz. Thought ya guys might like them too. Cherry didn't play against Portland unfortunately when the Cavs played Portland, but there were some good pics taken! First pic is former Griz Shawn Stockton, Tinks of course, Cherry and former Griz assistant (and current OSU Director of Basketball Operations) Kurt Paulson. I'm sure you guys know who the second pic has it in besides Tinks :)

Pretty sure most Griz BB fans have total respect for Lillard and the excitement he brought to Big Sky basketball. I remember watching him during warmups (I got to the game way too early) one year when you guys played in Missoula. He put on quite the dunk show for the kids who were at the game early. Always seemed like a good guy and I'm thrilled he's having so much success in the NBA. Hoping Cherry can get some quality minutes now that he's with the Cavs and maybe they'll match up against each other sometime :)
 
Just managed to stumble upon this by accident, Will is now playing basketball in Lithuania. Looks like his first game with the team is today.
