Wizard Signs Three

Yesterday, The Wizard of Ogden signed three to National Letters of Intent. All three verballed some time ago, and have been intending to sign since then. Blake Davis (6-5 205lb G/F), Lindsey Hughey (6-3 185lb SG), and Byron Fulton (6-7 240lbs C/F). Coach Rahe said that he got his top three recruits for this season.

Byron Fulton has been consistently labeled as a good find and a player who exhibits a great deal of potential and ability. He is one of the top 150 Centers in the Nation and has a high 70's average according to ESPN. He is coming to Weber with his good friend and teammate Blake Davis. Davis and Fulton both showed rare patience (high school players) and steady development over the course of the summer while playing AAU ball. All five starters on their high school team have signed letters for D-I schools (Two are going PAC 10). Davis averaged 12.5 pts per game last season and Fulton averaged 15 pts and 10 rebounds as a junior. Fulton may be an under-sized center, but has excellent balance, plays tenacious defense, and is extremely agile for being a big man.

Lindsey Hughey is a sophmore at Seminole Community College in Oklahoma. He averaged 13.5 pts his Fresh season and shot over 51% FG and 40.2% 3ptFG. He is one of the best FT shooters in the nation. He is a SG and will make an immediate impact for the Cats next season.

I think the Cats are looking at a number of other players to see how they develop over the season. Top on the list, IMO, is Corbin Green (Shaun Green of the U's brother) at Olympus High in SAlt Lake. During his junior season he only averaged 7 pts per game, but during the summer he lit up the score boards during summer tourny ball and AAU ball (he had a game high 55 pts in an AAU game). He has grown a few inches and they expect him to grow a couple more. There are also a number of other players (JC as well as High School) being looked at over the winter that could be potential signees next spring.
