Wk 10 Prediction Thread Eagles 20 vs Kats 23 Fudge!!!

Kats are coming to town. Expect a slugfest. Whether you think the defense or special teams or ball security or kicking or play calling or execution were the problem against Weber; you're probably right. Overall, the Kats stats are quite impressive and just a casual perusal says they have a decided advantage in this contest in defense, TO margin, penalties, FG's, kicking, etc... Despite having the top offense, Eag's have shown some inconsistency and MSU has a defense that can make them pay.

Guess fans will get to see what kind of team this is and if there was actually a chance for them to go "all the way". I believe in the team. Believe they will be the best team when they step on the field Saturday but will have to prove it. Have tried to look at the facts but my impression is there is a coaching deficit. I don't know why. Team leadership can overcome minor issues but close games expose these weaknesses and chance becomes a prevalent element. Like a missed extra point. Eagles can't leave it to chance this week if they want to win a championship.

Eastern gets two TO's this week and defense gets more than enough stops to allow the offense to outscore the Kats if the moment isn't too big for them. Can't afford any 3 and outs. Offense needs to possess the ball enough to find the big play or give the defense a break.

Let's face it, win as a team, lose as a team.

Eastern 31 - Kats 27

ok, let's see here: we get 6 td's and no extra pts or fg's that equates to 36pts.
They on the other hand get 4 td's(2 on fake fg attempts) and 4 2pt xtra pt plays and throw in a fg that equates to 35pts.

That's some high level analysis...

The bye week was just what the voodoo doctor ordered. We're back on track.
EWU - 56
MSU - 38

I would be absolutely SHOCKED if Eastern could get to 50 against Montana State. They have a damn fine defense. And if Montana State can score 38, we're in huge trouble. Idaho State, not exactly a defensive powerhouse, held them to 27. Weber held them to 13. We need to be able to match that kind of effort. I just don't have a lot of faith in the defense to do it, but trying to win a shootout by letting them roll down the field is a recipe for disaster.

This games predictions present lots of problems. Common opponents were Weber and UNC. You all know the results so I won’t go into them. Past games vs MSU are favorable to EWU, but that’s still water under the bridge. I could go into all kinds of offensive and defensive stats and we could argue and analyze them them for 2-4 forum pages. But I’m going to make this short and to the point:
EWU WILL NOT lose 2 in a row at home.
EWU has already faced 2 tough similar defenses as good as MSU’s, and will adjust!
EWU has the best QB in the nation at the FCS level, and that will make the difference.
Eastern wins by I have no idea what score, could be HUGE, or by less than 10, but with all the playmakers EWU Has, I just don’t see an MSU win.
X FACTOR: turnovers????

Good points one and all.. :thumb:

We will lull the cats to sleep with our mundane offense and by design give them a couple of designed turnovers thru the first three qtrs.

Then out of nowhere shock them into reality with a blistering offensive attack and ruthless defense the 4th qtr to win and scare them right outta Roos.

*oh yeah that didn't work against Weber...nevermind.

Eagles back on track again after the bye. Eagles 52 Wildcats 24

I wouldn't be shocked if Eastern puts 50+ on the score board today if we just run our offense. Would love to see RB's over 200 yards combined today and I always think Eag's can run off tackle/attack the edge. Must be a fault in my software.

Have some of you watched Montana State's defense before? Scoring even close to 50 would be monumental. They don't give up much in the way of BS yards, and throwing might be tougher than normal in the wind. Assuming Eastern's defense holds up- which I still think is a weak link, and they may get run over- this game has more of a 24-21 feel. A game plan that requires moving down the field and scoring with regularity isn't likely to work. This one is gonna be played tight, meaning getting 3 and outs on D is how we'll win, and failure to stop their drives will cause us to lose.

I'd love to be wrong and watch us dominate both sides of the ball and eat my crow. I just feel like this is a tight game that'll require rising to challenge of defense to win.

Great defense or not, the O is due for a big game.
