Wk 3 Prediction Thread Eagles 62 @ Leathernecks 56

Well, I watched a couple quarters of the Montana v W. Ill. and my takeaway was the Leathernecks didn't suck. The stats aren't very good for them so far this season for example; under 300 yds and only 3 TD's so far this year. That said, I expect some improvement from them this week at home.

The Eags may just have a little too much for W. Ill to handle. Eastern has been super lucky in not having too many injuries so far and that bodes well for continuity and effectiveness in all phases; including "special teams"

I see the Eags putting this one away as long as they take care of the ball. The start time is great for the circadian rhythm's of normal game time starts for the team and the weather should be as good as it gets. Expect a slugfest 1st quarter unless Eastern's speed at WR creates some mismatches but much like the Montana game, W. Ill will wear down, make a mistake and the Eagles will pounce.

Gonna be hot(87 degrees) and somewhat humid. I also saw some of the W.I. vs Montana game @ Montana. They looked good to me at the start. Montana made some big plays. Good to see Sendelbach back in the line-up. Also, I'm very impressed Musser never took time off after his UNLV injury. When you see guys rallying back to the field after taking a bump, you have to be happy. It shows that everyone is bought in and wants to be part of the action.

I didn't watch a lot of the Western Illinois game with Montana, but they look like they've got some awfully big dudes. They were playing Montana tough for a bit and then faded in the second half.

82 degrees is temperate weather where I come from and what my weather app says the temp will be around kickoff... hydrate, hydrate, hydrate Additionally, it will be about 2% humidity. A perfect early fall day. Weather won't be a factor.

Massey has the Leathernecks beating the Eags 63-49 in one simulation I ran... Whoa.. Has Eastern at 61% likely to win the matchup though.

Obviously last night was not the end result any of us or the team wanted to happen. But, I think we have to take it for what it is… we are not at the level of competing with the top dogs of the FCS. I personally think Montana wins the MAC this year and arguably most G5 leagues. We need a better showing against EWU this Saturday. EWU is a good team but shouldn’t be as good as Montana or Ball State.
