Wk 6 Prediction Thread EWU 55 v. SUU 17

Big week back on the Inferno versus Southern Utah. Can't say I have any real insight into the Thunderbird team; stats tell us they have a prolific offense with two capable QB's and RB's gaining about 480 yds a game but a horrific defense ranked #122. Understand they have played two Pac12 FBS teams and NAU. This bodes well for the Eag's offense.

Expect SUU to gain their yards after a probable slow start on the road after a bye week. After two weeks of stopping run based teams, SUU's balance could pose a few problems. Eastern has a better team, but SUU has beaten the Eags recently and is looking for a statement win after going 0-4 to start the season.

In the end, the Eags have too much fire power and balance for SUU and the defense improves throughout the game.

Eags 48 - SUU 32

Best highlight of SUU I could find:

Lucky;
I agree with your summation but feel you are too kind to the T-birds.
I think we can score 2 TD's per quarter and hold them to 1 FG per quarter.
56 Eagles
12 T-birds

This game was where our wheels fell off late in the season last year and we dropped two in a row to SUU & WSU. Of course, they were really good teams but I would love to see some revenge in this game.

Eags 42
T-Birds 28

I hate to say it... but we are halfway through the regular season. :(

I like this spot a lot. Momentum wins the day. Well that, plus we're just a far superior team.

EWU - 45
SUU - 20

Agreed. We'll need to improve on a few things... Namely being ready to go defensively from the first series on and to play cleaner on offense. But if we play well, we win. The only way Southern Utah stays with us is if we completely stink it up.

I think Southern Utah is a better team than their record suggests, but at home, this is a tall order for them.

Agreed we are the better team, if we stop some early big plays, Eags win BIG like clawman and y'all think. If not, we win the second half adjustments. Looking forward to seeing this one and soaking in the atmosphere of a regular season game this weekend. Would love another Richmond game (albeit warmer) where Eag's blank SUU.

Just my guess but our much maligned defense would love nothing more than a shutout, this game may be the best chance of that... until Portland.

Disagree. SUU's offense is pretty good. They just have no D.

Best chance for a shutout will be either Idaho or PSU, IMO.

I know the transitive property of football doesn't exist, but in all likelihood the eags are better than Oregon State by a significant margin. This should be a great opportunity to pad the PF stat column.

All of us would love the defense to pitch a shutout in this one and scare the crap out of the rest of the BigSky completely if they aren't already. Don't know Eag's get any shutout's without 3+ TO's. SUU's offense has shown itself to be good, I like the QB's. That said, SUU is going to have to wait another week to get a win regardless.

SUU’s O is good because they returned practically everyone except Patrick Tyler.

Game film should tell them our receiving corps is still inconsistent and now the weaker part of our offense and they will also see how much WSU rattled Gage. Of course they won’t be anywhere near as fast and athletic as WSU’s front 7.

At 0-4 I don’t see any reason for the Tbirds to not take some chances with extra blitzing or loading up the box to stop the run. We may see more than a few bubble screens.

They haven’t stopped anyone but no one has really stopped either. I could a see a blowout but wouldn’t be surprised at all to see it tight.

EWU 41-28

EWU too powerfull....44 vs 22
