Wk 7 Prediction Thread EWU 45 @ ISU 28 Eags WIN!

At this point in the season shouldn't be having to check the precepts on our team to make reasonable predictions. When it isn't going to plan, I usually step back and see where things aren't aligned. Injuries and inconsistent play may be going hand in hand, so will stay the course.

Precepts:
EWU has superior talent and depth to most of the BSC
OL is good/excellent
Well coached
New D scheme is a better fit to talent
Know how to win
Offense is not stoppable

Know ISU is feeling good about finally beating a "real" team last week and should be happy to get this one on home ground. This could be a good trip for Eastern to assert themselves or something akin to burying a pet in a indian burial ground. Looking for the former.

Forgot to put up the rest of the BSC predictions... mostly because I couldn't have been MORE wrong last week. Just take what I put down and use the exact opposite to bet and you should retire a billionaire.

UND over Weber 2 TD's
PSU over MSU (jumping on the PSU bandwagon, this team is feeling it)
SUU over Sac St. Defense too good for SUU
UNC over UC Davis coin flip

First off, kudos on Pet Sematary. Love the Ramones... maybe not as much as the Dead Boys, but more than the New York Dolls (who are still damn awesome). All far better than that UK trash-punk (Clash, I'm looking at you!) :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

I fear we are catching Idaho State at a time when they may finally have emotion on their side. Football is largely about form, and sometimes you have it and sometimes you don't. I'd much rather have played them when we were playing Sac State and they were coming off a pounding.

Eastern is still a far more talented team. But we are every bit as much of an enigma as anyone else in this year's wacky Big Sky. If someone watched our film, they could just as easily come away saying "Eastern isn't that good this year" as they would "Eastern is fantastic when they are playing well." You could make a good argument for both statements.

It would really be nice to put this one to bed early and give us all a breather from the weekly chest pains inflicted when watching this team. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. I'll take Eastern win a close one, maybe 7-10 points spread.

:thumb: ISU hasn't looked very good. This is exactly what I would like to see happen Saturday. What you thinking; disguise the coverage, bring the blitzes, cause disruption/TO's?

What type of offense does Idaho St run? Are we going back to facing a more balanced attack? Nice to know that we won't see another Cal Poly look anytime soon.

Going to need to contain their RB Xavier Finney and WR Mangum. My guess is this will be another shoot out. Anyone with a half way competent offense is going to put points on us this year.

I'll go with 52-45 EWU. Another close one that will leave people a little frustrated that we couldn't put the bungals away but still happy with a W and 3-0 BSC record.

Bonus fun fact: We only have 2 interceptions so far this year! Barf.

Hey EWU fans. ISU fan here. Your predictions surprise me, although I feel they are VERY realistic. I just thought you all might be blowing the spread out of perpective being that ISU has struggled to find its footing. So kudos to you ALL for being level headed and respecting us as your apponent.
As mentioned by one poster, I feel that you might be coming in to the Holt Arena (The Dome), at a time when our spirit that has been bottles up and or stifled, are ready to explode, and will have us playing better than expected. This of course comes at a time that EWU has had to come from behind on the last two games. So, no hard feelings, but as a true fan I must pick my team.
ISU 49 - EWU 42 upset.

It will be a very fun game I hope. If it's not, that means we fell off our momentum and you guys destroyed us. :-(
BTW, will any of you be in Pocatello for the game? I have family that's coming down from Spokane, and will be Tailgating with us, I'd love to invite anyone who might be there to come enjoy some food and mixed EWU-ISU company.
Have an awesome day!

I have never been so disappointed in a post of yours. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

If I'm not mistaken, Jakori Ford is having a better year than Finney. Mangum is a beast but KW Williams had the big game last week. Throw in the TE Cook and they are full of weapons. If Sanders has truly figured some shit out, they will be very dangerous.

Jakori Ford is a super fast threat, but the only reason he seems to having a better year so far, is that we have played mostly defenses that load the box and do well preventing the inside run (Portland State, Boise State, Cal Poly...) Xavier Finney is more of a downhill run through the line type of running back. Jakori has been used for the short screen pass during the games we haven't had much luck up the middle. I think you'll see Finney attempt to run more this weekend.
...and if Sanders also has "figured shit out", expect a few more weapons to help Mangum and company with the names of Broc Malcom and Hagen Graves.
