Friday night game makes for a short week after a dominating and emotional win against UC Davis this week. I don't care for it. Not one bit. If Eastern takes care of this one, the consensus is they get a seed, which means a week off to heal up, enjoy the holiday and prepare for their first playoff game. Am all for that.

Not looking past Portland. They have improved throughout the season and have some athletes with the right body types. Have never really watched them because they just always seem a mishmash of pieces, I don't find that interesting. Their stats don't suck and point to a .500 team at best.

No mystery here, Eags win this one handily. Even with substitutions throughout the contest. As important as this past week's game was, this one could be for all the marbles depending on the Weber/ISU game. Heard a new "tone" in Coach Best's voice that gave me chills after UCD. The team will be focused.

NO WAY IN HELL this team gets 20 pts on us.

Portland State is the ultimate Jekyll-and-Hyde team. One week, their offense looks great and their defense looks terrible. The next week, their offense is hapless but their D looks solid. They just can't put both together in the same game. It would stand to reason they'd potentially be dangerous if both sides of the ball play well.

However, even if they do play their best game, Eastern is still better. If we see them have an off game, expect a blowout. If we get their best, though, Eastern should still win, but it'll be more competitive. The important thing is to play like quarters 2-4 yesterday... If that happens, it's a sure win.

My concern would be playing on a Friday night, when it'll likely be cold and wet and in a sparse stadium. It's not an environment conducive to "bringing it." It'll be stale and surreal. I've seen a lot of good Eastern teams sleepwalk against Portland State before.

One other thing, if you are going to the game, remember it is in Hillsboro, not downtown. If you aren't familiar with Portland, Hillsboro Stadium is about 15 miles due West of downtown. The only route in is the 26 Freeway and it's a parking lot from about 3:30 to 7 on weeknights. Plan to navigate a LOT of traffic on a Friday night.

Is it on a train line or bus route or should I rent a car?

If Eastern wins this one, is it safe to say EWU gets the #2 seed?
I think so but others do not agree. The committee takes a lot of information into consideration so there are a lot of variables. The other opinion is that Weber beat us so in no case should we get a better seed than them. The committee looks at a teams entire body of work not just one game. IMO Easterns quality of wins and losses is better than Webers.
Easterns loss to Weber is better than their loss to NAU. And both teams lost to a Pac-12 school, Eastern to a top 10 Washington State Cougars and Weber to unranked Utah.
Wins- Eastern dominates top 5 ranked UCD. Webers win is against the Eagles after we had just lost our QB.
Eastern should get #2 seed, Ken. state #3 and Weber #4.
There is another game to be played so things could change a lot in all of FCS.

It really doesn't matter if Eastern gets the 2 or 3; whatever it takes to get away from North Dakota State is fine by me. Weber will also certainly be seeded ahead since they won the head-to-head, although the computer polls aren't kind to Weber. If Weber got a 2 and Eastern a 3, that'd be great.

Having a convincing win against portland State can't hurt.

I agree with your logic, Weber’s loss was also to an UNRANKED NAU. Oh, btw I think Weber State might fall vs Idaho State in Pocatello.

NO WAY IN HELL this team gets 20 pts on us.

:D Think we have to account for garbage time and a bit of an emotional let down this week. My first thought was 6-9 points. It's just as likely Eags completely shut them down. It's a prediction thread, just doing the math and spinning the "emotions wheel of fortune". It's an art, not a science.

Frankly D has really only given up yards and points when it's in zone... Against UCD we kept dropping our best pass rusher, Mitchell, into coverage like a couple of years ago against Youngstown. Didn't like it then, don't like it now. Given, the D tackles were phenomenal getting push in the middle, think there would have been 2-5 more sacks if they'd let Mitchell eat. Ojoh has been fantastic against the run and pass. Hell, accolades for EVERYONE. This finally looks like the defense our players talent level suggested it could be.

Love that the D seems to be building to create TO's this post season. Don't think history has anything to do with today, but I remember the 2010 team getting a lot of TO's. It's a good way to win games against competitive teams.

Someone on the Cats board shared this link about their chances against Montana this week. Had never seen it before but did a few match ups against possible playoff teams for fun. Eags beat all the CAA teams, Kennesaw, et. al.

For those of us driving down from the Seattle area...would the option of crossing the river at Longview and coming down US 30 be a better route?

Eagles 27-17!

I think we all now know what "Leave No Doubt" is really about this year.
This team is on a mission and all of these poor saps in their way are feeling the wrath of Coach Best and his crew. I don't see this playing out any differently than pretty much every game this year (outside of Weebs). Better athletes, better coaches, better depth, better preparation, better execution, better focus and better motivation. EWU ROLLS

EWU - 52
Vikes - 14

Yes. then take cornelius pass road directly from highway 30 to hillsboro. it will also save you from crossing the I-5 bridge.
