Wk9 Prediction Thread Idaho 14 @ EWU 38 Eags Win!!

Everyone is wondering, will the Eags make some adjustments to get the offense back on track? Can the Defense keep up this high level of play? Doubts are normal after a bizarre loss where nothing clicked on offense.

Guessing Idaho watched the tape and will bring pressure against EB3 but expect Eags to keep handing it off and let the RB's control the game. If Keenan Williams plays like he did last game, the Defense will hold Idaho in check. Outside of penalties and TO's, this one shouldn't be close. Haven't heard or seen anything to suggest the team is anything but pissed off and ready to dole out some punishment. It's human nature, especially in competitive people.

Given lack of injury info and any other reporting that's worth a shit, going to hold onto the notion Eastern is the superior squad. Control football keeps the score down unless the running game produces big plays as it has in other games. It's possible, but going to go with the 5.1 yards and a cloud of dust assessment and something around 20-25 pass plays. Excited to get the team back on the field and put the last contest behind them. Eastern dominates.

Eags Win 30-17

Hard to predict at this point until we know who's going to be on the field. I was really disappointed to see us get beat up so bad at Weber. If a bunch of players take this game off, it'll be a tough one.

I think Eastern is a big favorite with Gubrud on the field. Without him, this one looks 50/50 to me. If Barriere starts, I'd expect him to be working with a much shorter leash than he was given at Weber. We can't go through a long period of being totally ineffectual on offense like we did two weeks ago. Our defense is playing tough, but it's unrealistic to expect a good shot at winning the game if we can't score any TDs.

Idaho has been terrible on defense against good offenses this year. Is our offense good? Hard to say. Certainly at times we've been exceptional, but the offense that went to Ogden was brutally bad. I expect a much better performance on Saturday regardless of who plays at the QB position. But I'd feel a ton more comfortable if it was Gubrud.

EWU wins big. But not in typical EWU winning big fashion. More like the way we've won big this year.
Running game goes off again. Defense creates turnovers and scores TDs. Special teams comes up big. All around just a dominant performance where the passing game doesn't have to carry the load.

EWU - 52
Idaho - 16

I think I need to see what the injury report looks like before I can really give an assessment of this game. We’ve been hit hard on the injury front. We SHOULD win this game. But based on the Weber performance I think it will be close.

31-28 Eags.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but using the Idaho board link below I couldn't find any real discussion about the big "rivalry" game this weekend on the Inferno. What I saw nibbled around the edges, but was mostly butthurt.

I remember when Eastern would play Idaho in the Governor's Cup in the 80's where Eastern was the default little brother (where being on the color guard at Joe Albi was my first "big time" football game experience as a fan). Also enjoyed Idaho success at the FCS level (losing the Natty at Ga Southern back in the 90's). It is sad to see how far the Vandals have fallen.

This said, looking forward to our team smoking the wheels off against Idaho this Saturday. Won't revise my prediction upwards given the possible return of GG, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings for us to put a 50-60 spot on the Vandals either. Expect their best despite their lack of fanship (?) on their fanboard.

Big A hits 4 fg's...D plays great

Criner misses a tackle on Isiah Saunders for the go ahead touchdown with under 3 minutes left. EB3 leads the 2-minute offense down the field... To the unfortuness ending of a INT in the Endzone to Cheney Native Ty Graham to seal the deal on the Inferno Meltdown...

Oh i just woke up from that dream 30-19 Eastern.

Eags 52 Vandies 17 Keenan williams 2 sacks 1 forced fumble. JT , leads the front 7 shutting down the Vandals run game allowing only 120 rushing , and 50 through the air. Lets get fired up, on the road to nationals! Hope the Bat. Cmdr. has plenty of shells for the 105 !!!!! RANGERS LEAD THE WAY
