Women's BSC Schedule 16-17...

Just received a copy of the conference schedule for next year and apparently there has been a lot of changes from the initial draft in February. This also means changes for the ISU men's part of it as well since when the women are at home, the men are on the road and so on.

I was told this should be the final draft.

Now the women will open the conference schedule at home on December 29 (Montana) and December 31 (Montana State).

The second week they are at Weber State.

Originally five of the first seven conference games were on the road. Now five of the first eight are at home.

Senior Day will be February 25th when ISU hosts Eastern Washington.

ISU closes the regular season on the road at Montana State on March 1 and at Montana on March 3 before heading off to Reno.

Longest road trip is three games over week two and week three of the conference schedule (at Weber, Eastern, Idaho)

Portland State and Sacramento State come to ISU this year but the Bengals do not play there.
ISU goes to So. Utah and No. Arizona but they do not come to Pocatello.

Looks like a tough conference schedule from an opponent stand point.

Montana, Montana St., then on to Weber to open the conference season... Seton better have those girls primed and ready to go!
Thanks for the update Mark.

At least the first two games are at home and they've already shown they can compete with and beat Montana State and Weber State.

Yes, I do like the revised schedule with less stretches on the road. After this last showing in Reno, we can compete with anyone in the conference, anywhere.

...BUT when we play Montana and Montana State....Dec 29th and 31st.....the students are gone....and the noise they make.....it helps...... :twocents:

That's an interesting point. I'd be curious roughly how many students on average attend basketball games.

Went out to Reed Gym today to watch some of Seton's camp and say hello to everyone.

Saw four of his players working the camp...Grace, Saylair, Juliet and Lindsey. Grace looked to be moving around very well. Seton said she's close to getting cleared for all drills so he isn't expecting any recovery issues with her.

Said most of the other players were around and going to summer school.

He said Freya looks great, Saylair has really improved her conditioning and JJ will be playing #2 guard this year since she's a very good shooter. Sai, he said has also looked very good.

Brook by the way did not make the New Zealand Olympic Team but was with them on the trip to China and played in a few games. Seton said she had 22 points in one of them. She'll be back in Poky the end of July.

Coaches will be heading out recruiting in a few weeks, they have their eyes on some pretty good players from around the area and there apparently is some mutual interest... also from some other states that are relatively close. Some international players are also on the radar.

The non-conference schedule was really an issue this year. Apparently some schools whom ISU thought they had a deal with, dropped them basically at the last minute and they had to do some major, major revisions. Plus in addition to the Cancun trip they have to go to No. Dakota which is super expensive.

Budget is going to be very tight this year it seems. Was told they have four 'money' games this year because of those expenses.

Overall it sounds like things are moving along and just wanted to pass along some updates.

I think Seton will have more depth this year and if they can stay healthy could have another good season.

Thanks Mark. I'm really looking forward to watching the women this season. They should have a lot of talent and depth. If they can keep everybody healthy I see them as a top four team.
