Idaho State's Apiphany Woods was named Big Sky newcomer of the year, and freshman Megan Hochstein shared reserve of the year with two other players as the all-conference teams were announced today. Woods was also an honorable mention all-conference selection.

ISU's Grace Kenyon had a tough final three weeks of the season and lost out on freshman of the year to EWU's Hayley Hodgins.

Hochstein, Woods, Policicchio and Kenyon is a pretty solid foundation for a basketball team next year. They'll have to get some guard play from Jones and some of the new kids, but they should have a very good front court.

Newlee's comments on Woods after Saturday's game: ""I know Ali can guard her," Newlee said. "I mean, give me a break, there's no doubt that Ali is a much better basketball player than that kid. She proved it today. Woods could do nothing with her."

Jon's such a classy guy....

The guy's a jerk. Was when he was here. Is while he's up there. Will be in the future. At least he provided some bulletin board material for next year.

By the way, I checked the Pac-12's tie breaking system for conference seeding. What do you know? It's almost identical to the Big Sky's. I believe they go hand in hand, except they flip a coin first, while the Big Sky uses RPI before doing that as the last step.

Yes, the Big Sky modeled their system after the PAC-12 when they went to an unbalanced schedule.

Tried to remember how much if at all, Woods was guarding Forde on Saturday but honestly can't...be that as it may, Jon should also remember Forde is listed at 6-1 (but is actually taller)...Woods is listed at 5-10 and Forde probably outweighs her by 20 pounds. She's got a set of shoulders on her like a linebacker too.

Not that that could have anything to do with things (sarcasm implied).

Still like Jon but his comments are making me think that he's simply a sore loser.
