WSU 2010-2011 schedule released...

I for one am not to thrilled about this schedule... I hate looking down the list of games and seeing no name schools on the list. The only OOC game that makes me excited is BYU. For heavens sake, get UVU or someone half decent to come visit the DEC! I can only hope that we get a team in the bracket buster to come to the DEC. I like the away games and the possibility of playing ASU or St. Johns... Tulsa will be good as well... I wish that teams would grow a pair and come play us in the purple palace.... What do you guys think about this?

What a garbage home schedule, who the hell is southwest university? I seriously can't get excited for this home schedule at all, our home attendance is going to suck worse than normal.

Also, it appears that we were suppose to play byu on the 18th, a Saturday... For whatever reasons we allowed byu to switch from a Saturday game to a Tuesday game... I'd much rather of had a Saturday game in December versus a Tuesday game closer to Christmas... I think attentance wise we did byu a huge favor... Also, we have a grand total of 4 home OOC games... We have two D-1 games and 2 lower than D-1 teams... Yeah, I'm just not too sure about only 4 home OOC games.....

Missing from the schedule: Weber vs. Utah on 11-20 at SLC. It is on University of Utah's schedule, why not on Weber's?
BTW: University of the Southwest is from Hobbs NM, an NAIA school.

The Utah game is on the schedule.

As a season ticket holder, this schedule does little to excite me. They want me to pay to watch 4 games (including the 2 exb. games) vs non D1 schools. It's no wonder they have a hard time filling up the Dee. I am seriously considering not renewing my tickets.

Sorry, when I printed it last night the Utah game was not there....must have been adjusted later. Go Cats

Considering that season tix are so cheap, the BYU game and conf. is easily worth the price of admission. Don't be a wankor swebercat02, just renew your tix. I don't know what you were all expecting, but the Big Sky has improved and I'm looking forward to the BYU, USU, and Utah games.

It's not about supporting or not supporting Coach Rahe and the team. I will still be there for most, if not all, of the games. It's about making a point to the incompetent athletics office that a home schedule like this isn't acceptable and that they shouldn't be asking fans to pay for 4 games against inferior level competition. By not renewing my season tickets, I can pick which games I choose to pay for and not pay for. And for hell sakes, bury the damn hatchet with UVU and play them every year.

This is kinda like 2009's schedule which wasn't too great n only 12home games. 2010 was better but 2011 not so great. i know the staff has a hard time getting anyone to dare come to the dee so this is what we get for being a respectable program. why do you think idaho state gets all those awesome games? such as byu/utah/usu/#10 ranked wazzu all coming to poca...because they won't lose....well, utah at least thought that LOL!

a few yrs ago in a coaches lunch rahe was asked, why don't get get u of idaho to the dee? this was after they had just hired his buddy Verlin. he said they don't want to come here, he mentioned how they have an easy time filling the schedule with the program being so bad. with us though, we are a smaller school but we win and we win at home.

maybe in another 17 yrs we will get another big ten team to come back. lol

what do you think about the more important part of the schedule????

Big Sky Play

It kinda sucks we start out 3 games on the road...montanas then nau. then finish 2 of last 3 on the road. not as favorable as some of the others we've seen the last few years.

Bracketbuster
and the bracketbuster road game in the middle of conf play toward the end, if its not on espn i'd rather not have that one on there too. it could be a good one though. we'll be a good team so we have a good shot at being on tv.

here's our only bracketbuster game we've played in: Feb 19, 2005 at Boise St. We lost 80-66.

Top Performers Weber State: L. Allred 14 Pts, 11 Reb, 4 Ast
Boise State: C. Karl 22 Pts, 3 Reb, 5 Ast, 1 Blk
(both players were teammates for the NBA D-League's Idaho Stampede in 2010)

Wow why do we ever play at home to begin with? BYU is the only one of the "4" home games worth going to watch, doesnt mean I dont support the team, but where is the excitement in playing Colorado Christian and UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST????? Uh What? Who is that? Seattle thats not so bad, they were pretty decent in thier first year of D1 Ball last year, but what a sad sad home schedule.

Terrible schedule!!

I don't blame this on Rahe, but on the athletic department and also, a bit on our improving reputation. Nobody has the guts to come to the Dee and play Weber on their home floor. However, how can USU, annually, get 18-20 home games? Logan is further away, harder to get to, and, in the last decade, a far worse place to play at. You'd think that Weber could get some more home games, but can't. USU understands, that to make money they have to spend some money. Also, they recognize that to develop a fan base out of their student body and the local community, they have to have opportunities to show off their teams. Weber...doesn't get that.

No matter...I'll be at all the home games, and a lot of the away games. I'll cheer on our Cats as they play before 1500 loyal fans against Colorado Christian and Southwest University!! This isn't good news for the Wildcat Club...there will be a lot of angry season ticket holders who only join the club to get priority seating, is there any other benefit?

University of the Southwest Mustangs an NAIA out of Hobbs New Mexico, member of the Red River Athletic Conference went 12-16 last season.

If you want an Idea on how exciting this game is going to be, Southern Utah beat them by 60 points 111-51 last season, we beat SUU by 18 points last season :|

It is grand to see the new schedule released. Always an exciting day. Though I have to make a clean breast, back in my younger days we didn't have such easy access to know what was going on with Weber's football and basketball teams. We have an auspicious schedule to be victorious. This could be our best preseason yet with Coach Randy.

It seems like the release of the hoops schedule raises the same question anytime the program is healthy and tough to beat at home: Would we rather take Colorado Christian and Southwest at home, or hit the road again? As a season ticket holder, I’m willing to give up those two games and see how we would match up on the road against a BCS conference opponent on the road. It reminds me of the 2007 game at Illinois. The team laid an egg, but we made a run at the end to make it look respectable. The Big Ten Network has some positive things to say about Coach Ray and the team. And a few players’ families that don’t live out west were able to watch the team live. To me, that loss was better for the team and school than a win over a non-D1 school at home.

Hey we've got a troll from the athletic department on here again. Welcome to the forum Boys!! Wish you'd stay and chat some more. I'm sure Tal is fully aware, as we all are, that Rahe and Co are the ones who have full access to the schedule. Nonetheless, if He isn't getting monetary support from the department, which would help bring teams to Weber and the Dee, why would it matter? I'm sure Mr. Bovee is doing what he can with what he has (how on earth is CT making over 100K???) to help build up the program.

By the by, how is the football marketing going? Has anyone seen anything? Whats the plan for basketball marketing? I'm kinda interested, as I'm sure everyone on this board, and the Wildcat fan base, are. This is the prime time to be marketing our teams. There should be a billboards of Cam and Lillard all over the valley, on buses, and on posters hanging in almost every store in Weber county. Why isn't there Weber flags hanging from light poles and in the businesses most loyal to Weber? I'm glad you have time to troll the boards...

I guess I struck a cord.

I definitely spoke out of turn. Weber doesn't have the resources that USU has, but the reason we don't is because we don't try to build up our fan base. Weber students mostly have loyalties to some other school other than Weber. Whats worse is that the community could care less about Weber. When does that change? How does that change? Playing Southwestern University in basketball isn't going to help.
