Cameron Higgins ranks fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision with a passing efficiency rating of 171.7. At this rate Higgins will likely be a candidate for the Walter Payton Award.

Tim Toone is averaging 107 receiving yards a game, good for third in the Big Sky and ninth nationally.

Weber's Bryant Eteuati is first in the Big Sky and 14th in the FCS in punt returns, at 14.7 per game.
Eteuati has returned two punts and two kickoffs for TDs in his career.

As of Oct 11 after our win over MSU, we are #22 until Monday afternoon when the rankings come out by TSN, #19 and #21 both lost.

#12 UM beat #23 EWU

#18 NAU beat PSU

Looks like we should be in the teens in the next rankings.

This week (as of 13 October), the computer has Weber State ranked even higher among Football Championship Subdivision teams, at #2, ahead of Montana at #4 and Northern Arizona at a distant #11.

Setting aside automatic conference bids for the moment, if the playoff brackets were determined by the TSN poll, three teams ranked in the top 16 by the computer would not make the playoffs, including both Weber State and Northern Arizona. The third program left out would be William and Mary (computer rank #14).

Consequently, three teams NOT ranked in the top 16 by the computer WOULD make the playoffs if the TSN poll were used as the basis of creating the playoff brackets: McNeese State (computer rank #20), Central Arkansas (computer rank #19) and Southern Illinois (computer rank #18).

Weber State is the only team with such a glaring disparity between the computer and TSN poll ranking (18-2=16 places!). It will be interesting to see if the poll rankings converge as the season progresses.

That is from a lack of respect for our team.

Latest from the Sagarin rankings Oct 20 NCAA Div I Football, 245 teams.

71 Hawaii
70 UM
83 Weber State

85 Rutgers
88 Michigan
89 Colorado State

144 Washington State
145 Eastern Washington
146 Wyoming
189 Idaho
215 Idaho State

After beating down Northern Arizona 42-14 yesterday, in another Big Sky "statement" win, Sagarin's computer now ranks WSU at #3 among all Football Championship Subdivision teams, behind only highly regarded Richmond at #2 and consensus #1 James Madison. ...oh, and ahead of Montana at #4. 8-)

Hopefully the eastern press and coaches will pay attention in this week's polls.

Here are the Top 25 results from the 20 October Coach's poll:

1 James Madison (27) beat #9 Villanova 23-19
2 Appalachian State beat #18 Furman 26-14
3 Cal Poly beat unranked Southern Utah 69-41
4 Northern Iowa beat unranked Youngstown State 21-0
5 Montana beat unranked Northern Colorado 41-20
6 Wofford (1) beat #7 Elon 55-20
7 Elon lost to #6 Wofford 20-55
8 Richmond beat unranked Georgetown 48-0
9 Villanova lost to #1 James Madison 19-23
10 New Hampshire beat unranked Towson 42-14
11 McNeese State lost to unranked Nicholls State 35-38
12 Central Arkansas beat unranked SE Louisiana 28-21
13 Southern Illinois beat unranked Missouri State 23-17
14 Western Illinois (idle)
15 Northern Arizona lost to #17 Weber State 14-42
16 Massachusetts beat Bryant 42-7
17 Weber State beat #15 Northern Arizona 42-14
18 Furman lost to #2 Appalachian State 14-26
19 Tennessee State lost to unranked SE Missouri State 20-27
20 Jacksonville State lost to Tennessee-Martin 30-31
21 Liberty beat unranked Charleston Southern 42-0
22 Hampton lost to #24 South Carolina State 13-35
23 William and Mary beat unranked Rhode Island 34-24
24 South Carolina State beat #22 Hampton 35-13
25 North Dakota State beat unranked Illinois State 25-7

After the convincing WSU victory over Northern Arizona, the Wildcats could still lose a conference game and have the Bog Sky Conference championship locked up. Hopefully, last week's scare vs UNC disabused the lads of any idea of dismissing a weak opponent, and they will stay focused to win out the remaining conference games with more "statement" victories on the way to the FCS playoffs.

It will be interesting to see if the coach's poll and other "opinion" polls catch up to the computer rankings this week. Certainly Weber will move up a few notches. Will they break in to the top ten?

I guess we'll have to hope for losses from the higher-ranked teams because we only managed to move up three spots. It's hard to argue that any of the higher teams should come down, but three spots?...

Montana beats Northern Colorado and moves up two--to number SIX. This is sad.

Yup, Weber has already soundly thrashed the Griz, is ahead of um in the Big Sky standings and in the Sagarin rankings, yet trails in the national polls? Do I remember hearing somebody mention that the FCS is clueless about the west?
