WSU, ISU road trip looms large

Seems like the Jacks forgot to play the in your face defense that got them wins over NC, MT, and MT st. Not happy at all with the way they played defense on this trip. This team can beat anybody when it plays defense, but when it doesn't, anybody can beat this team.

King - I agree that NAU can beat anyone in the Big Sky when they put a concerted effort on defense. Here's a disconcerting tidbit - according to ESPN, NAU is ranked 219th in the country in rebounding. Ouch. 8th in assists and 6th in shooting percentage, though. Impressive. Shooting .439 for the season from three and being tops in the nation is bordering on amazing. A little more defense, a little more rebounding, improvement on team free throw percentage and the same drive and effort on the road as at home is all they need. That's not asking for much, right?
A classic Pete Carril (former Princeton head coach, Sacramento Kings assistant coach, founder of the "Princeton" offense) quote comes to mind:
"A player's ability to rebound is inversely proportional to the distance between where he was born and the nearest railroad tracks. The greater distance you live from the poor side of the railroad tracks, the less likely that you will be a good rebounder."
Time to start working over some of Arizona's rougher rural and urban communities.
