WSU to WAC?

My guess is that USU is going to nip any talk of Weber in the WAC right from the start. There is no way Aggie administrators and boosters are going to allow WSU. In their thinking,(driven by a long-established false sense of superiority) adding Weber levels the recruting and sponsorship playing field. USU will make the WAC take every other school in the Sky before Weber.

Not to mention, I dont think Utah can sustain 4 FBS colleges.

Why do you think Utah can't support 4 FBS schools? Recruiting, or money? We have approx 34 Utah kids out of 94 which is 36% on the roster.

Lets all be honest, I don't see anyone getting an invite this summer. Maybe the WAC will try 8 for a season or two, so an invite could be a few years away if any.

If La Tech does jump ship, I really can't see CUSA picking them up, maybe the Sunbelt, then the WAC will be forced to make a change. I think the WAC will first go after SLO and UM, if not a couple of FBS programs. To bad the WAC doesn't have Rice, SMU, and UTEP still.

latest rumor is la tech to sunbelt with a trade for north texas

no one is even discussing wsu moving up and never has.

The only way that makes sense to me is if both LA Tech stays, and the WAC adds North Texas. Then Weber would make a perfect non-football member and give even scheduling for all sports. Two big hurdles here:

1. I still believe USU would firmly oppose adding WSU. Weber already poaches USU’s recruiting pool, and it creates competition for dollars, media coverage, etc.
2. Whether it’s under this scenario or another one, the Big Sky must let go of the football requirement for membership. As noted in other posts, Denver would be a perfect non-football match for the league. Weber would be a perfect football only member…..so would SLO and Davis.
