1. Quayle vs Lillard
Advantage: WEBER
Quayle is a senior and has been selected as a WAC all conf first team. Him and Wesley are their 2 best players. Lillard is just a 19 yr old soph. Based on the past yr one would think to give the nod to Quayle even though both had a very good season, Quayle does have more experience. Based on what I think will happen in the game I give the advantage to WSU. This will be Lillard's best opponent of the year. Can anyone honestly shut down Dame?
2. Williams vs Session
Advantage: PUSH (as they say on PTI)
Williams' status is still pending and me may not play in the game due to ankle injury in October. they said he'd be out 4-6 weeks in mid-october. Session is a new player with a lot of potential he had WSU fans excited with a pair of dunks and good 3-pt shooting at the first exhib game. Sess comes to WSU from Saddleback JC a school well known by USU as they have recruited 3-4 players there in recent years. Sess averaged over 10 rpg as a 2 guard last yr. We don't know who will start for USU and do we even know if Session is the 2 and if Hansen is the 3 or vice-versa? Do to lack of experience at this position on both sides I can't give the nod either way.
3. Newbold vs Hansen
Advantage: USU
Hansen is a senior and Newbold is a junior. Since hansen is our go to man from the arc if he gets hot you gotta go with him. Again will hansen play the 2 or 3 and will Newbold play the 2 or 3? He was the 2 last yr so I still don't know if he lines up against hansen or not. Newbold last yr: 43.1 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from three-point range and 76.2 percent from the free throw line... Finished the year with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.96-to-1.00, which led the nation and ranked first all-time at Utah State... Also ranked seventh in the WAC in three-point shooting and 10th in assists per game... Led the team with 60 made thee-pointers and was tied for the team lead in three-point attempts (152)...
4. Wesley vs Bull
Advantage: USU
I believe we will be double teaming Wesley and trying our best to get him in foul trouble. I think our best body to put on Wesley is Mahoney but he won't be starting but should be ready for the game. Currently injured. At the same time I don't see Wesley stopping Bull as he can shoot from anywhere and prefers the perimeter. Wesley won't be stopping Bull from shooting 3's which he loves. Oh did I mention Wesley had the best game of his career against WSU last yr? He had a triple-double. Then again it was against a freshman starter for WSU. But still, he's very good.
5. Bendall vs Panos
Advantage: Push
Aggies are saying Bendall is very good and will do a good job replacing the WAC MVP that graduated. Those are some big shoes to fill. This one I am not sure on how to judge. Panos is a senior and if he can play good D we should be ok. Panos is a better offensive player than D. The USU game will be Bendall's first DI game in 4 years.
