WSUCatFan: And I finally made a free throw during the Farr's diamond shoot out. I was nervious after the lady infront of me made it, I didn't want to choke. Got the roll over the rim. My wife says I have to spend 20 min a night shooting...

For those that didn't notice...the guy in the purple WSU football jersey shooting the half-time free throw was our very own WSUCatFan! He made the shot, as well Cheesus took a shot...and well...bricked it! LOL!!

What was that Cheesus???

Good job WSUCatFan!! Good luck in the finals, word of advice from a former winner (me), practice shooting all day the day of the final. Thats what I did, it worked!

CatCat, the first ever Diamond winner!! In my day it was from Golden Segal! What you don't believe me??

Proof (LOL):

It was a cold chilling late January evening...

FYI, if you win, think before you speak, they will quote you and you might not like the final result, LOL!

So did you ever get that bullet bike? This guy looks alot like Willie Paige, but I think he is BobandWaldo's brother.

Speaking of the diamond shootout, they called my name during the BYU game last week which only set me up for great disappointment. Did I miss the fateful shot, you ask? No. It's much more painful than that.

When they call your name, they tell you where to go to check in, at the bottom of Portal 19. So I go to the top of Portal 19, and the usher stops me. He asks if I'm sitting in that section, and I say no, I'm just going to check in for the diamond shootout. So the usher tells me not to go down then, but to come back with three minutes left in the first half. So I go back to my seat, watch Weber hang with the Cougars, and then go down with three minutes left. I make it into the tunnel, where the other participants are waiting. Then the guy who runs the thing comes out and tells us what order to line up in. But he doesn't give me a spot. So I ask...hey, when do I shoot. And he's like...uh, you didn't come check in. Sorry. We got someone else.

So whatever usher was working the top of Portal 19 that day owes me a freaking diamond ring, cuz I'm a sure thing from the free-throw line. Man. The sad thing is, I've shot for it before (and made it before, even though I choked in the finals) and I knew the usher was wrong. But if he won't let me down to sign in, what am I supposed to do? Rush past him and then get hauled off by security, much like PurpleFogDog. I'm over the initial disappointment and have moved on. But I would have liked a chance, at least.

By the way, my brother won a diamond bracelet in that contest one year. When I qualified for the finals a few years ago, I practiced free throws for a few months only to brick the first shot in the finals. Life is not fair. Even when you win, you lose. That's the sad lesson here.

What I love about that newspaper article is this line:

"On Saturday night at the Dee Events Center a winner was crowned.WSU Freshman Cody Olsen nailed five-of-six free throws to earn his first ever diamond ring in a halftime shoot-out."

When he mentions that it was just the first diamond ring you've ever won, the writer makes it sound like winning a diamond ring in a halftime shootout is a common thing. I think he meant to write that you won the first ever diamond ring, since it was the first year of the contest. Either way, I was in attendance that night and I remember watching that, but I didn't realize the diamond was worth 13 grand. The one I shot for was worth like a third of that. But that's the kind of luck I have.

Its true though...its only a matter of time. I agree with this writer. My guess is I will win 2 or 3 more diamonds in the next 10 years at Weber.

It really pays to be a Weber fan!! Didn't you see me last week in the money roll? I racked in $41!!!

Sorry the BYU game didn't work out for ya Jimmy, it did for me!!!

Jimmy you need to do the layup/FT/3 for money, they were asking for some one that could shoot good yesterday. You need to be in the student section before the game starts.

Or ask Ben Huppi or Paul Grua.

JimmyD,

Were you at the game yester? Your brother also shot the FT and missed! LOL

Of the 5 contestents, WSUCatFan and 2 girls made the shot, the 2 students both missed, LOL!

Not to mention the last girl was pregnant and still banked it home. She will have a basketball under her shirt when we go back to the finals.

When Catcat won that ring, JimmyD was sitting next to me in the now defunct Student Pit... I think we all started chanting MULETANA when you shot. They need to bring the 'Pit' back, that was a crazy place at times. Against USU a T could have been called on us after Barton hit the three to beat them. There was still time on the clock and the section had already rushed the court. Opposing players hated us, Chris Hester (EWU SPAZ, did one of the most idiotic high fives in Dee Events Center history, which is still routinely mocked to this day by Bengalhater and I) dove into the section and threw a punch at me, which hit a girl, while I was throwing him back onto the floor. I think he went to UM after graduating from EWU, and got a degree in alchoholism. Anyway, Catcat what game did you qualify for the ring shootout??

Oh, you've got to tell everyone what happened to your bullet bike...Didn't you drive it into the Institute building claiming to be the Mahdi? Catcat was only able to escape the crazed fruititoots after agreeing to let them cut his hair, dress him in a suit, and sing in the choral (where he met PURPLEFOGDOG).
