WSU's Defense

Many are assuming our defense isn't very good but this is a mistake. Regardless of what number of yards we are allowing notice our scoring margin. Also, one of our all-conf Dlinemen has missed half the season due to injuries but we hear from Wildcat 100 he will be back for this game - Eastman.

31 ppg, allowing 20 ppg

Our 2 FBS opponents scored 24 and 29 against us. Only Montana has scored over 30 against us. Last season Hawaii, top 25 Utah, #3 Cal Poly all scored over 30 on us.

This year against 2 of the top offenses and QBs in the nation - NAU and EWU - we only allowed 1 combined TD between the 2 teams. #1 Montana scored 3 TDs against our D.

W&M's D sounds amazing. It should be a fun game to watch such a good O against such a good D.

Our offense averages 418 ypg
In 6 of of our 11 games Higgins had between 290-410 yds passing.

only Delaware had 300 total yds.

W&M allows just 55 ypg of rushing. If our Oline and Smith is healthy can they really keep us under 100 yds rushing?

The only D we can probably compare to W&M we've played is Wyoming. Supposedly Wyo had 2 Dlinemen and 2 DB's that were NFL bound.

Vs Wyo we had 411 yds, 322 passing, 89 rushing, 19 1st dns, 29:57 possession - and 5 to's.

The D line will be in tact and ready to attack. According to sources, The Beast has the green light and is very ready to help anchor the D line. The Montana game he played both DE positions and both NG and DT position. On the film, the QB would audible at the line when #95 was lined up as a DE, and ran the play the other way, every time.....interesting. Also, Montana Reynolds ran for 46 yds in the first half....2nd half after chop blocking #95 an taking him out, Reynolds ran for 195 yds in the 2nd half. One person does not make a difference, but there is a different 'flavor' when he is out there.

Look for the LB's to have a good game, follow the reads and make the plays. Sedillo and Webb to have HUGE games!

GO WILDCATS, JUST WIN BABY, JUST WIN......

Dont believe it; the CAA does not know the quality of passing games in the BSC. 4 of the top 15, 5 of the top 20 and 7 f the top 32 passing teams are in the Big Sky. This means that Big Sky defenses give up a lot of yards passing but doesnt mean they are weak defenses. The fact that there are so many strong pass offenses in the BSC does not mean we dont run the ball, it just means we dont run it as often. The Big Sky has solid run offenses it is just overshadowed by explosive passing offenses. WSU will be able to pass on this team and your run game and defense will hold up just fine.

I agree with cats2506, The passing game will open up the running game, Trevyn is a beast, and if he cant do much running up the middle, throw a screen pass to him, those are always successful.

And maybe we wont even need the run, Sacramento stopped our run, but they couldnt stop our passing game to the point where Weber hardly ever ran the ball and just tossed the ball up and down the field to score at will.

The point is W&M cant try to focus on stopping just one side of our offense, because the other side will rip them up.

I completely agree. The passing game will be the key to us winning or losing against W&M.

Love the Signature Wildcat! They are playing to see who plays the 5th and 6th place Pac-10 teams. Very exciting.

At the office I hung a sign with the WSU and W&M logo stating this was the REAL game that matters on Saturday. I also posted a bracket so that all of the FBS fans could see what a football playoff looks like.
