(Returning starters in red)

QB - Brett Smith, Fr. (True freshman will be making 1st collegiate start. Participated in spring practice after graduating early. Was 2010 Gatorade Oregon Football Player of the Year. Was 46 of 65 (70.8%) for 325 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs in 3 fall camp scrimmages)

RB - Brandon Miller, So. (Was moved to RB from WR during spring practices. Played in 7 games as a redshirt freshman in 2010)
RB - Alvester Alexander, Jr. (Started 12 games in 2010. Lead team in rushing yards and rushing TDs. Was named all-conference honorable mention. Was named to the 2011 Doak Walker Watch List.)
RB - Ghaali Muhammad, Jr. (Was moved to RB from LB during spring practices. Started 8 games at LB in 2010.)
*Wyoming head coach states that these three RBs are virtually even on the depth chart and should see equal carries*

WR - Chris McNeill, Jr. (Started 12 games in 2010. Finished with 28 catches for 257 yards and three touchdowns. That ranked him second on the team in receptions and third in receiving yards.)

WR - Robert Herron, So. (Split time at wide receiver and running back, as he appeared in 10 of 12 games as a true freshman during the 2010 season. Averaged 23.5 yards of total offense per game.)

WR - Mazi Ogbonna, Sr. (Appeared in 11 games and made 3 starts as a JC transfer during the 2010 season. Had 18 catches for 183 yards and 1 touchdown, while averaging 10.2 yards per catch.)

H-Back - Mat Birkeness, Jr. (Was moved from DE to H-Back during fall camp after projected starter Bryson Studnicka was lost for the season due to injury. Appeared in 12 games in 2010 and finished the season with 22 tackles.)

LT - John Hutchins, Sr. (Appeared in 12 games and made 10 starts during 2010.)

LG - Brandon Self, Sr. (Appeared in 7 games during 2010.)

C - Nick Carlson, Jr. (Started 12 games during 2010. Was named all-conference honorable mention, UW's Offensive Lineman of the Year, and to the 2011 Rimington Trophy Watch List.)

RG - Zach Rushing, Jr. (JC transfer)

RT - Josh Leonard, Jr. (Started 10 of 12 games during 2010.)

Summary - Of the 12 starters listed on the depth chart, 5 were starters during 2010 (3 linemen, 1 RB, and 1 WR). The offensive line, lead by Nick Carlson, is experienced and should be the strength of the offense. The RBs, lead by Alvester Alexander, could be quite productive running behind such an experienced line. But the other two RBs that will share the carries are new to the position. How will they perform in their first real games running the ball? But the biggest question mark going into the opener will be the passing game. True freshman QB Brett Smith is making his first collegiate start, and will have a relatively inexperienced receiving corps to throw to. Starting WR Chris McNeill returns after starting during 2010 and was 3rd on the team in receiving. Robert Herron is talented but young and split time during 2010 between WR and RB.
I'm expecting Wyoming to be run heavy in the opener. They have some talent at running back, especially in Alexander, and they are deep at that position. And they won't want to give QB Smith more than he can handle in his first start.
