Pelt was a walkon in 2011-12.

And...what exactly is your point? I don't see 11-12 as one of the yearly rosters? Once again, since your are such a purplefogdog :dunce: , Van Pelt will be returning to Weber State. He earned a scholarship before he left. Coach Rahe has confirmed this to numerous individuals on this forum, as well as previous coaches luncheons.

i must have forgot. i honestly cant think of one walkon we have had that got a scholarship, so this would be the first. :thumb: now we just need to figure out how to get him to gain 50 lbs to get him up to 225.

will he be a selvig or pre-rahe patten? with trez n hajek gone soon we will need to reload.

The hope is that with Van Pelt and Braxton both joining the program that that will give us that necessary depth, and help us reload. Also, the team will have Bolomboy, Hill, and Fuller available. I've been hearing some really good things about Hill and Fuller. I'm calling them the WSU Wildcat Express (Like SMU's Pony Express of the early 80s). I'm thinking that Rahe is looking for another PF type of big to join the program. But right now, it isn't a huge imperative. Let's see what happens with Leeks. Maybe he will really develop into something special. 8-)

Hill and Fuller both give the Cats depth in numerous positions. Fuller can play big as a 4 but could also, play as a 3. If really needed, Fuller has the potential to play the 2, but due to our guard depth that won't be, hopefully, necessary. Hill is stronger as a 4, but can definitely play the 3; especially defensively. If really needed, I'm thinking, going forward, that Hill could play in the middle. He is a strong kid and has some crazy athletic abilities. He can jump out of the gym. Getting a big this spring or next fall, wouldn't be a huge surprise though.

Chad Leckinton (signed with the football team to play QB) averaged 23 and 5 for Shelley High School last year (same school as McKay Cannon who averaged 21 and 7apg). Maybe, he could play for the basketball team instead.

It's plain to see that we don't have a lot of scholarships to offer over the next few years. We really need to be careful in how we handle this. I think that two or three of next years class will want to be red shirted. They are simply too good to waist any eligibility. Plus, we don't want to have 5 or 6 in one graduating class, down the road. For the best management, you don't want any recruiting class larger than 4, if you can help it. :coffee:

Keep in mind, some of these folks won't last more than 1 or 2 years at Weber. How many recruiting classes remain intact? Every year there is at least one guy who, for what ever reason, doesn't come back - coaches decide the player isn't what they hoped for, player sees he won't get the playing time he hoped for, etc.
So I think you can be sure another scholarship or two will open up.

Normally, Prof, I would say that is true. However, we are getting down to a fairly solid group. I'm hoping that we don't see that much turnover in the next few years. I really like the guys we have. :thumb: :thumb:

I wouldn't be surprised if spots open up in the future. But with the guys on board now, I'm thinking we will see most of these guys stay the full time. Especially if they are good!! Let's all hope they stay. :thumb:

Oh my hell!! Can anyone remember a more talented squad? This team has serious potential. It only becomes deeper and far more talented in 15-16. Scary good players.

I posted this on a thread last month and you all thought I was crazy.

Re: Rahe's Best Team?

I just took a big ole drink of purple Kool-Aid. This coming season will be one of the most talented teams we have ever had. We will have some growing pains but at the end of the year we will consider 14-15 one of Randy's best teams.

Here is where I hit the Kool-Aid strong. As long as most of these kids stay with the program and Bolomboy sticks around for a senior season, the 2015 -2016 basketball team will be the best team in Weber State history. I predict that we could see that team go to the sweet 16.

Nah! not me! I believe in your every word (mostly) & I hope your prediction comes true :notworthy: Must admit though, I stay away from the purple Kool-Aid as it can be intoxicating!
