Your call?

Last 20 seconds of Montana/ Sac State game in Sac, a call much like ours vs San Jose State, Will Cherry runs into a Sac player and they call a blocking foul giving Cherry and Montana 2 freethrows for the win.

Looking at this video, I honestly cannot tell which call should have been called. Does the Sac player have position? Does Cherry initiate the contact? Does Cherry Travel (he picks up his dribble at the 3 point line).

What do you think should have been called, Charge, block, travel or nothing at all ?

I would have hated to be a ref right there.

He may have traveled. Its hard to really tell. However, it's clearly a charge. The ref crew blew it. They sure ran off the floor fast, didn't they!??! It appears that Cherry is going to get the star treatment this year. Sac should have tried to deni him getting the ball. They probably should have called a timeout after their made 3 pointer. They might have had time to set a better defence.

The interesting thing here is this: WE have the replay to look at over and over. The refs have to make that cal in real time and hopefully were not blocked out. In my humble opinion, Cherry took 1 1/2 steps(awkward though it looked) but, I did not see traveling. The charge/block was really bang bang but after seeing it a number of times, The defensive player DID beat him to the spot but then kept moving a tad. I'd hate to have to make that call in real time.

After looking at it again, I believe it was the right call. A call not often made, but the right call. I believe that, 50% or more, charging calls really should have been called a block. I believe that refs just get a kick out of calling the charge. The signal for the blocking call is just too gay and they don't like to do it. What usually happens on those last second plays is a no call.

You have to hand it to Montana. They went into that rat hole and pulled out a victory. :thumb:

Call could have gone either way…but since it involved Montana…

The reality is poor griz FT shooting let the Hornets creep back in it with late 3's. I would have loved for us to steal a win there but we started the game 1/16 from the floor. :x

Ouch!! that really hurts against a team like Montana. I was hoping the Hornets would pull it off, but.........as you say, it is Montana and the officiating is a little suspect when they are involved.
