Now that you post that, I half expect them to announce another extension to his contract.

Just in case the AD keeps getting amnesia or hit in the head or whatever and keeps forgetting how awful Coach Collins is. Will update for posterity. Maybe if his win % was batting % he could be an average hitter on the Rockies.
Absolutely pathetic and disgusting

Adding in the latest loss to USD. 0-4 on the year, and brings his UNC record to 26-66

Are 5 of those 26 wins over D2/NAIA, in Greeley?

If so, of the 21 actual D1 wins, were 18 against teams who finished the season with losing records?

Have we also lost twice to D2 teams--at home in Greeley--during this time (Lindenwood and CSU-Pueblo)?

His record his horrible, and he deserves to be let go, however I am not sure we could can any better for what the school is paying for salary.

Yeah I count them all, I figure the D2 wins and *sigh* losses balance out with the FBS games we play. It's pretty horrific if you keep breaking out down to the core. The fact his conference record is somehow worse than his overall record is shockingly horrific.

They are paying him $150k plus bonuses. You could find someone to sign on for that

Yeah, but can we afford to buy him out of his contract and pay for a new coach? I imagine all it would take is 1 extra FBS road game (lets get that Florida game back on the schedule for next year and that can fund the new coach).

I'm pretty sure the buyout is 3 months of his contract now. Which really shouldn't be too hard to absorb plus a new contract. Like you said, 2 FBS games and we make it up and then some.

He is certainly not lining up in the bread lines, but it's still the lowest salary in the conference.

A bit dated but this article from 2017 on Weber States coach getting a raise is interesting:
https://www.standard.net/sports/weber-s ... 5fc28.html

It includes other Big Sky HC salaries including guaranteed bonuses:
•Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh — $229,000
•Montana’s Bobby Hauck — $205,000
•North Dakota’s Bubba Schweigert — $185,000 that increases to $225,000 in its final year
•Sacramento State’s Jody Sears — $187,000 (previous to a newly announced extension)
•Northern Arizona’s Jerome Souers — $185,000
•Eastern Washington’s Aaron Best — $180,000
•Idaho State’s Rob Phenicie — $85,000

For Collins, according to the Trib, his salary is $150k a year plus the following possible bonus (25k of which should be a slam dunk):
$15,000 for average home paid attendance of 4,500 per game, per season.
$10,000 bonus if his players’ annual academic performance is above 940 in the NCAA Academic Performance system.
If the UNC players achieve a team grade-point average of 2.85 or above after fall and spring semesters, Collins will be awarded a $2,500 bonus.
$10,000 bonus if the Bears record six or more victories in the regular season and an additional $1,000 for each victory above six in a regular season.
Winning or sharing the Big Sky Conference championship will earn Collins a $5,000 bonus and an additional $5,000 if he’s named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year.
He’ll also receive an additional $5,000 if the Bears play two FBS opponents in a season.
Qualifying for an FCS playoff game is worth another $5,000.
The most lucrative bonus will be $20,000 for winning an FCS National Championship.

Surely we are in the same ballpark as other Big Sky teams and could get a better coach to come to Greeley for the same money.

Interestingly enough there is a lot of buzz about this Head Coaching job among many Power 5 position coaches looking to get their first shot at a HC job. As a UNC football alumni and having worked with a few of these inquiring individuals personally, this is a huge opportunity for this program to turn things around with a young innovative mind.

YOU CAN WIN HERE. Its possible. Need a strong HC that wants to pound the pavement and recruit with his face, name and connections.

Academics are important, the ground work of academic culture is set, now you need to go get a few DUDES that need some guidance but can BALL.

We have gone over every compelling reason to fire Coach Collins to no avail so can we just fire him for fun ? This has gotten ridiculous.

Living in the D.C. area, I half wondered if Jay Gruden or Collins would get fired first. I should have known it would be Gruden.

Doesn't anyone from the UNC administration from the president to the athletic director to the coaching staff have a clue how to fix this mess. We are not even competitive in our losses. This game with Eastern was 40 -0 at half time. I could see if we lost by 14 or so it would look like we have a decent team, but to get blown out game after game tells a different story. Not only this year, but year after year. We need to do better, we want to be proud of our team and support UNC.

Is anyone in this school’s administration listening ? To keep going with this HC is insane. Do something for gods sake ! Fans are dropping like flies. This program could be so much more
