I don't see any from the PAC-12. One from Wyoming, a couple from the Big Sky......

Volleyball 2016

Looks like we're going to have a very good volleyball team this year. We're already 4-2, one of the wins against Pac-10 Colorado. Still a little young, but with terrific depth. And we're rated at 22 in the mid-major rating. This weekend should tell us something about the season.

Re: Silicon Valley versus Silicon Forest media prediction and game preview

Nice analysis. Not sure if Potter is going to be bailed out by the Spartan's running game. They totaled 53 yards rushing against Tulsa. Is Tulsa's defensive line that much stronger than ours?

Re: Conference recap

I forgot to add: Tulsa beat San Jose last week 45-10, primarily with the rush (300 odd rushing yards). San Jose rushed for 53 yards. I'm hoping our rush will do as well.

Re: Conference recap

For what it's worth, Sagarin has San Jose rated at 101, while we're down around 120. We'll be the underdogs, but we can win it.

Re: Central Washington vs Portland State

They didn't outplay us; as Barney said, they played us even until the 4th quarter, where our D1 numbers wore them out. Yes, the number of penalties was terrible. And not even one turnover? Still, it's a win and I'll take it.

a new QB?

I see that Hitner has been moved back to QB, another last minute change that goes with our new kickers. He's 6'5"/225 - the tallest QB we've had in a very long time. What tricks does Barnum have up his sleeve?! And going back to my previous question, Hamilton did take a couple snaps.

Hey, did Hamilton get any reps in the scrimmage?

Re: Viks to play at Oregon in 2018

I understand your scepticism. But obviously, half a million guaranteed does pay for a lot of scholarships. And if (incredibly) we were able to beat them once in a while it would do wonders for attendance.

Re: kickers

Yeah, I've been worrying all summer with only our two senior kickers listed. Now two last minute additions. No indication that either have gone to kicking camps, though Kennedy at least apparently kicked well all last year. The addition of another Australian kicker would be a good idea. Kinsella sho...

kickers

I see that we've added two freshmen kickers to the roster, both soccer players from Portland. One is Jaycen Kennedy, the son of women's basketball Coach Kennedy.

Re: Wiesel Stepping Down

He stayed four years too long. I'll remember him by the move of Administration from Cramer Hall and the heart of PSU over to 4th and Market, a long ways away from the school and faculty. He embodies the incorporation of higher education.

Re: 2016 RECRUITING THREAD

Looks good. Listed as TE/slotback. He's a mighty big slotback, rather small TE. Played fullback in high school (and a running QB!). This will be interesting.

Re: Scheduling Question

If we win, we'll have crowds here whether or not we're playing UM or MSU. The focus is on conference title and the playoffs. Life doesn't begin and end with the Montanas.

New softball coach

Anyone notice we've got a new softball coach on board? Mcwhorter, after 14 years coaching Mt Hood and feeding great players to PSU, has now taken over at PSU. Things are looking up! I pray she'll do something with our pitching problem.

Our golf team wasn't great this last year, but Peterson did just fine; she came in fifth at the Big Sky tournament. Now this! Glad she has another year with us.

I agree with BroadwayVik. Central Washington is no pushover. Fresno - maybe. Washington - no blowout, please, and no injuries.

Sherwood gone

Sorry to see her go, but permanent middle of the pack seemed to be the future. If that. The team's been hitting great but that's about all. Consistently too many errors. Especially, after three years of recruiting at best average pitching. No, change that; very poor pitching. Sherwood was supposed t...
