Come on, give Olds a break....if the kid is as good as he claims, RR will bench him next year and he will transfer out after that....or maybe RR will counsel him out cuz he's not as good as Cody John....what ever happens, he won't be a Wildcat for long unless Cody John gives him a copy of that photo that he held over RR's head the last 3 years.....
RR seems to be in desperation mode, signing as many transfers as he can. Some of these players look good on paper, but of course the test is how they play together. Hopefully we can get some team concept going with this new group.

VC doesn't show it, but Dillon was rated a 3 star by at least one rating service. He is a more consistent 3 point shot away from being a 4 star. If he works hard on his outside shooting he can be really, really good. He seems to have a great attitude to work hard and get better. My feelings are that he is going to be a great future player for us. He averaged point guard numbers for assists and post player numbers for rebounds. He has a really big wingspan and plays much bigger than his 6'6'' frame. He has played everything from PG to PF and does it all well. He is a highly skilled and motivated player. I don't know if he is an immediate game changer for this coming year, but he is definitely in the future. I see nothing but good for him.
It looks like rivals has Dillon as a 3 star recruit and ranked him as the 36th best small forward in the country. Here's an interesting tweet/video:

Not counting chickens before their hatched, Israel Barnes also looked really good out of high school and was a 3 star recruit. I guess time will tell, but he looks pretty good.

This is Oldrunner quote gold.

Not as good as when he bragged about what a player George Darling was going to be and that he scored 35 points in a European All Star game. He didn't read the story to the link he posted because George actually received a score of 35 in the dunk contest.

Not too many times I think I will defend olds. But in his defense Darling never got any playing time at all so none of us will ever know how good he could have been.

It had nothing to do with what Darling was or wasn't. But that Olds posted a link that he didn't even read. Scoring 35 out of 50 in a dunk contest is different that 35 points in an All-Star game. George's dad would come on here and argue with Tal. But that was a completely wasted scholarship. I don't think there was ever a plan to play or utilize him in any way more than a practice dummy.

Hard not to be a sceptic, given recent program history, but I hope that what's mentioned alot with these newbies coming in is: "liked what coach talked about on player (my) development here",...player development...huh?... hope the coaching staff comes thru for them! Frankly, expect the one or two year stay on several plays well with Rahe's tendency with mass player transfers out each year now. Also hope the "big" coming in at the end of recruiting is already developed, doubtful he'll get much more improvement here :wall: especially if he doesn't play well according to Rahe's/Duft's crappy offensive schemes. Credibility is on the line more so now than ever! :twocents:

I agree with Olds. Granted, I’ve been known to overindulge on the purple kool-aid most preseasons.Less stress looking at the glass as being half full. I like like the additions. Like I’ve said before, mostly we complain about Randy’s inability to change and his stubbornness. Well, he’s doing things I never thought he would. As for Dillon, I think we will all end up liking him. He has size, a killer work ethic, played four positions in high school and on his AAU team and is a basketball player. A guy who plays for his team and for wins. Not for himself or his stats. Traditional glu-guy, who can lead and Good court vision. I think he’s a great addition.

Some of you can and will continue to poke at me for trying to find positive things to say about people, It's all okay. I choose to stay on the positive side. I could probably think of something positive to say about AlumniWSU being sceptic.

Trying to remember back that far, but I remember having to try really hard to find positives about Darling. That was one of Randy's biggest mistakes. In my years watching WSU basketball, I've only seen a few others who were disappointing on that scale. I truly don't think that anyone will be disappointed by Dillon Jones. Although, I'm not sure about how much PT he might get in his first year or if he will choose to RS. He certainly has very good potential. This coming year's team will be full up with seniors who are going to play. One or two underclassmen might well consider red shirting. :coffee:

All the transfers coming in will be different. The big questions are will they play like a team? Will the coaches use the depth and rotation? Will the lame offense be changed?

It’s a lot of questions and with the same assistants, I doubt things magically fall into place and head coach.

I still worry about hustle, defense, rebounding, passing, strategy, turnovers, and the ability to break a press. I don’t think that has been the culture as of late, and it’s tough to change it overnight.

But sometimes the truth is negative. I think the lack of people willing to call coach out on poor decisions has aided the train coming completely off of the tracks.

I think this is going to be a really interesting season. How many of these transfers are willing to accept the team concept? Is Dillion Jones going to be okay with limited time this season. It's all up in the air.

Of course it's up in the air. I've always said that as well. I just choose to entertain the idea that things can get better. Of course things could get worse, but I choose to not dwell on that. Some on this forum seem to be declaring the season a loss before it even starts. Seems self defeating to me. :coffee:

Some speculation is based on recent history...I'm thinking most all fans want things to get better...the negativism from the last few years won't evaporate easily, there's blame that's deserved & denied, avoided, or simply not given. Always think of the phrase: Those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it... OR something like that.

Like Tal said, Coach Rahe is now doing a few things he didn't think he would...maybe from the heat or pressure he feels lately ( & last year's "I know how to fix this" gone array), but none of us expect any admitting to that from Coach Rahe...or even from Oldrunner

Let's just hope there's a season this fall to prove the Yay-sayers (believers) or the Nay-sayers (sceptics/disbelievers) right or wrong!! :coffee: Let's all press on to beat down this damnable coronavirus!!

Hein says in the Standard that Race & Co. are honing in on one more player, a big man? Does anyone here have any idea as to who this "big man" that they are after is?

They have talked to several and will talk to several more over the next weeks to months. They are not in a hurry on this one and want to make sure they are getting the best possible. There will be several hundred more players hit the portal over the next couple of months. I'm sure that if a center, too good to pass up, wanted to be a Wildcat, we would pick them up, but it would have to be the right fit. It's a little more frustrating for fans because the recruitment of these transfers is a lot more secretive. If you here about an offer, it usually means that a commitment has been made already. We won't bring anyone in unless they are a sure bet starter. Why would we take anything less? :coffee:

Uh, maybe because you want to get a couple of rebounds.....PG's and Combo guards aren't usually known to be big time rebounders....Just a thought Olds.....
