Game will be Friday night at 8 as part of an ESPN2 double header with the JMU/UNI game. Dress warm, it'll be a long, cold, and possibly wet game. And attendance will suck.

Considering last years attendance in Friday I’m expecting the same crowd, plus 3000 Montana fans.

My wife will be mad but I have my priorities. Montana at home, in the fcs playoff. I have waited my 20 years for this.

Maine game attendance was 7726 for a 6 o'clock start time. Kennesaw St game attendance was 5422. Not sure if a 6 or 8 start time is better but if fans didn't show up for a Saturday day game then why would they show up for a Friday game that's on TV? I'd expect the crowd to be closer to 5422 than 7726, not including UM fans. I'd be surprised if there's over 8k total

We have officially been guaranteed a small crowd for one of the biggest rematches against one of our biggest rivals. Great :ohno:

Right on, consider it lucky if there's more than 6K in attendance...sorry Coach Hill. Why would all but the most passionate Montana fans want to travel in winter weather conditions when they can watch it on TV at home? Same with the lame Weber State fans attendance history, with a few exceptions of course. Yesterday's game attendance was disappointing but lively. Guess it's a good thing they don't bid out the host sites for the FCS playoffs like they did with I-AA or Weber State would most likely not ever host much.

Oh well, ESPN, etc. TV rules with the all important $$...& out west fans suffer the consequences with late time schedules & on TV the previous game will no doubt carry over into the 1st QTR. before the 2nd's on the screen. :ohno:

Still remain excited for the opportunity to the Wildcats to get revenge on the Griz in O-town. :thumb:

That is the difference between Montana Grizzly fans and every other team in the BSC. Griz fans are willing to sit in the rain cheering on the Griz vs sitting at home where the team can't hear you.

I really wish I could be in the stands for this one. If it was a Saturday, I'd be there. But a late Friday night drive from Utah County in (possibly) bad weather just isn't possible. I'll be cheering on the Wildcats from home.

The Friday weather, right now, calls for mid-day rain and snow flurries after 6. Around .02 precipitation anticipated after 6. Partly cloudy with a low of 29. Yes, it’s going to be cold. And, in all likelihood, it’ll rain during the day and it would be wise to bring a poncho for the game but limited accumulation. In other words, weather should not keep people from coming to the game.

 ...(read post below).....if you're a Griz fan...

You are in denial if you think that of the Weber State fan attendance especially if it's on TV. I continually find disappointment in the football attendance at WSU...did we even break 10K this year any game (most in good weather)?? Agree that marketing sucks & trying other means might make a difference but the reality is it is what it is. Just look at the attendance figures for the 2nd round, Montanas had 12K, 16K---Weber & Sac St. in the 5Ks for a flippin playoff game !!! Go figure. I know of some fans who said it was too cold to go last Sat., I call them fair weather fans & even then absent sometimes. :ohno: "had to work" "went shopping" "something else better to see" on & on... :ohno:

PS I know on this forum, I'm singing to the chorus, I have no doubt most all are great fans who attend & thanks to you...please drag some friends along this time, whether they're screaming & kicking all the way!

One big key to winning this game (maybe THE key), IMO, is not allowing Montana big chunk plays (over 20 yards). I'm talking mainly about stopping the Sneed to Toure long pass completions. Toure is quick, fast, and very good at both beating his defender and getting yards after catch. This combo torched SELA over and over and got Weber twice for TDs. Corners have to play well and safeties have to be there to stop the yards after catch. Need good tackling in the secondary.

vs WSU
Sneed to Toure, 79 yds, TD
Sneed to Toure, 59 yds, TD

vs SELA
Sneed to Toure, 62 yds, TD
Sneed to Toure, 42 yds
Sneed to Toure, 25 yds
Sneed to Toure, 29 yds, TD
Sneed to Toure, 46 yds
Sneed to Toure, 47 yds, TD

I’m curious if we do anything different to stop Toure. Hill hasn’t run many designer coverages to take a specific WR out of a game in his tenure. We usually just stack the box, play man to man, and challenge the opponent. Either way, Heckard and Collins have their work cut out for them.

Couple seasons ago the design was simple, put Taron Johnson on their best receiver. Without a player like Taron, it gets much more difficult to game plan for a Toure type receiver.

What changes can we expect from our team Friday night? I really don't see Coach Hill make any radical changes from our first tangle. Just play a cleaner game. Don't make the same mistakes.

There were six plays that killed the Cats the last time we played Montana. Three terrible snaps (which is really weird), one pick in the endzone (Jake, too often, tries to force things rather than finding the safer option) and two long pass completions to Toure (who is a hell of a good football player). Football truly is a game of inches.

I'm not saying that Weber wins even if those plays don't happen, but the game is probably a lot closer. I figured Weber, playing an error free game, would still lose that game 7 times out of 10. Hard to win in Missoula. However, even though they act like idiots behind their keyboards (and anonymity) watching a game in WA-Griz is a fun experience. Not as a player or student, but as a fan. It is great. :) Made some good friends last time I went up there with Sir Velo.

Does anyone remember if Heckard and Collins were available for the entire game vs Montana? I had to stream that one on my phone so I couldn’t see very well. I see they are on the participation report for that game but I know around that part of the season we were relying pretty heavily on Kamden Garrett and Maxwell Anderson.

Collins got hurt pretty early on against Montana as I recall. He was one of five key players to go down that day.

Now that we have seen what UM will throw at us, I'm certain that it will be defended better. I am also sure that we will have more things planned on O to attack their D. However, I'm also sure that UM is thinking the same way. I expect a good game. It should be fun for everyone.
Things are good, but they are sure to get better!

Just have them watch the Cat/Griz tape guys. Toure didn't hurt us once!! :)
