• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

Nice to see today on Hornets Sports .com the hiring of assistant coach Ed Jackson. Leaving his most current job as the head volley ball coach at Academy of Art University in SF. He has a very impressive resume and is a Sac State alum. This looks like a great hire to perhaps bolster our volleyball program and maybe help the Hornets get back to the dominant Big Sky volleyball program it once was. And the dominant program before that in the Div II era. It has been so many years since our most superior sports team was relevant. Best to you Coach Jackson and may you bring our Hornet volleyball program back to the top of the ?Big Sky as it was for so many, many years. Welcome back to Sac State Coach Jackson.

New assistant coaches and a roster that returns almost everyone, maybe things get turned around this season.

Hornets take down San Jose State from the Mountain West on their home court 3-1 after falling to cal poly of the Big West earlier 3-1.

So come home 2-1 overall to face BAKO in the home opener on Tuesday before heading to north Carolina for another tourney as most of the schedule to open the season is on the road.

Hornets win 7 out of 11 matches to start the season in the Bay Area.

Go Hornets!!

Nice opening win for the Hornets taking care of BAKO last night

And the best thing about last night was actually being able to see the contest on video stream for the first time. Yes, the volleyball games have been on Big Sky TV for years but was so hard to see the games from the camera mounted on like the east wall of Hornet Gym, a terrible view of the game.

With the new company hosting the video stream the camera has at last been mounted in the same place as basketball and we get to actually watch the volleyball games like the fans see it, the whole court from side to side. So nice.

Congrats to the Hornets for winning a tourney in North Carolina over the weekend. The 6-1 Hornets are off to one of the best starts in the last 20 years. And with the exception of one home match all this has been accomplished on the road.

Good luck next weekend on the road again as the Hornets play 4 more at the Fresno State Tourney.

Hornets get past Fresno State and Cal State Fullerton today and win another tourney on the road as Sac State moves to 10-1

Ten wins already for the Hornets and it's only Sept. 12th. Appears like the program may be back? And just referring to our once dominant program with no disrespect intended toward the hard work that the teams have put in the past 7 years.

On to UC Davis on Tuesday night for the Causeway Cup points against the Aggies at Hickey Gym for some sort of throw back event as the home opener for the 4-6 Ags. Time for the Hornets to keep it rolling on the road before coming back to Hornet Gym next weekend for the Sac State tourney followed by the beginning of the Big Sky season at home The Hornets are having a fantastic season so far with only 7 lost sets in 11 matches. And no matches have gone beyond four sets yet. Looking really, really good!! And very nice to see that the Hornets may go down in the first set and then often come back and sweep the rest to win. That is what the Hornet volleyball teams did in the past and are doing now. Doing whatever it takes to win, making the adjustments and winning.

Go Hornets!!

Stingers Up!

Hornets sweep by UC Davis tonight in front of 650 at Hickey Gym at UC Davis.
Sac State moves to 51-21 all time in the overall Causeway series.
and picks up 5 points in the 2015-16 Causeway Cup race.

Recall volleyball, football and basketball being worth ten points all these years but it appears that all contests between Sac State and Davis will be worth either 2.5
(when a sport plays more than once in a season ) or 5 points which will make for a more sensible scoring system and equal the playing field and assign the same value to every sport.

Now at 11-1 on the season the Hornets play at Hornet Gym this weekend hosting their own tourney and then open Big Sky play at home. The Hornets have played at home only once so far this year.

Keep rolling on Hornets!!!

Is Volta in a contract year or something?! Where has this been?! Hornets getting votes in the national top 25!!!!

No kidding. Better late then never I suppose. I hope they keep this up and tear through conference play just like the good ole' days..

Here is the dungpile game release. From the photos, looks like the men's hoops team made the trip in support. Pretty cool.

Must have been a great atmosphere in Hickey Gym last night and the Hornets took down the Ags on their home court in front of 650, a huge crowd for volleyball. Nice to see the support of the basketball team out there last night. That was common in the good old days of Sac State dominance as well.

Does look like this program is back!!!

And may the Hornets take care of business at their own tourney this weekend and two home opening Big Sky games after that at hornet Gym. Hope the students get on board and come out to support this team.

Sac State has the best record in the Big Sky so far during pre season of the 12 schools in the BSC and may this continue!!! They are winning and winning and still have yet to go five sets in any match ups.

Go Hornets!!

Winning is the glue that makes a good team even better so expect the Hornets to continue to roll.

Hornets win last night against Nevada and this afternoon against Kent State until fighting Santa Clara big time in four sets before falling and ending their amazing 12 game win streak and end the pre season 13-2, the best record in the Big Sky with conference play opening next week.

Amazing pre season Sac State and way to fight each and every set til the end.

Now go out and win the Big Sky regular season title and bring the Big Sky tourney to Hornet Gym!!!

Sac State bounces back after tonight the 12 match winning streak ended to Santa Clara and takes Southern Utah to the first 5 set match of the season , pulling out the victory over the T Birds who appear to be among the best in the Big Sky at least in pre season. Now the 14-2 Hornets host the 11-3 Lumberjacks of NAU at 1 p.m. on Saturday. NAU also looks to be one of the best among the Big Sky schools. Hope folks get out and support the Hornets on Saturday before the party begins in the tail gate area for football later in the day.

Congratulations to the Hornets for starting Big Sky play with a win and doing what needed to be done to come back and win in 5 sets after dominating in the first two sets and then having trouble in the next two. That is what good Hornet teams do!!! Fight til the end.

4-1 at home and 10-1 on the road so far in 2015.

Keep it up Sac State!!!

And hope we can maybe have some audio along with the video from hornet Gym for volleyball? Just would be kind of nice

Predicted to finish in 10th place this year, the Sac State Hornets take down the predicted favorite Lumberjacks of NAU. Breeze past the Jacks in the first two sets, almost come back before falling by two points in the third set and then come way back to defeat NAU in the fourth set 30-208. An excellent NAU team that was 11-3 coming in the the match today at Hornet Gym.

Sac State is now 15-2 on the season, the best team by far in the Big Sky overall in terms of wins and defeats and continues the season with the best start in 20 years.

Now 4 Big Sky matches on the road. And the Hornets are 10-1 so far on the road so the team knows how to get it done away from campus And they are now the team that everyone will be shooting for in the Big Sky. Let the good times roll.

keep rolling along Hornets and do what is needed to pull out the wins

Congratulations on 15 wins so far and it's not even October!!!!

Go Hornets!!

Best of luck to the Hornet volleyball team that has already doubled last years overall win total with 16 victories and only 3 defeats.

On to EWU where the 9-6 Eagles have not lost at home so far. Match this Thursday and then across the state line to Idaho on Saturday to play the Vandals.

This will be the only time the Hornets see these two teams during the regular season as they are in the north division of the Big Sky and Sac State is in the south division.

Go Hornets!!!

somehow the 16-5 Hornets fall to the 6-12 Vandals tonight and finish their 4 game Big Sky road swing at 1-3

YIKES , the Hornets were 16-2 a couple weeks ago and having a dream season, a season like so many years ago.

Well, hope whatever is wrong gets made right the next couple of weeks as the team has a four game home stand

Hosting the Big Sky Tourney appears off the table at this point with half the Big Sky teams with equal or better records even though the Hornets still hold the best overall record of all 12 teams.

May the Hornets come out strong and defend home court the next two weeks and win all 4 matches at Hornet Gym and get things together in October!!!

hornets get back on the winning track last night and take care of Northern Colorado to move to 17-5, the best record among all Big Sky schools. Time to take care of Portland State tomorrow and move to win number 18 which would bee 10 wins more than all of last year.

Hope folks come out to Hornet Gym to support this amazingly improved Hornet team!!

Time to pack the old gym with the winning hornets!! Would just take half of the students living on campus to pack the gym.
