• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

2018 Big Sky Games

Amazing half-court three from Spight to win it tonight in OT with a second left!

UND is much better than their record of 2-5. Their guy Crandall was unstoppable with 30 and Avants took it to OT with a monster offensive board and putback, finishing with 20 and 10. It looked to be going to double OT tied at 91 before Dre's dagger.

This home win was crucial. Next week on the road at Idaho and EW, then the Montanas. Go Bears!

Montana 7-0
Idaho 5-2
Weber State 5-2
Montana State 4-3
Northern Colorado 4-3
Idaho State 4-3
Eastern Washington 4-3

Was really glad I looked at twitter when I got up this morning. Ended up recording sportscenter (which I never watch anymore) to watch that play.

Really cool.

Montana brings an undefeated conference record into Greeley on Thursday. This will make it extra sweet when we beat them. No one can stop us now because the big items have been grouped for the use of the factors for the community. And the reforms have been ensured with grademiners for the use of the norms and all possible humans.

bearadactl, looks like some of our spam posts infiltrated the last sentence of your post. Either that or you were possessed by a Nigerian scam artist.

Bear versus bear tonight.

Their big Akoh killed us in the first game with 34 points. Hard to see how we'll stop him, but we can certainly make it harder to get the ball in the low post. But even then...in Montana's big win at Pitt Akoh had zero points.

Looking at Montana's margin of victory in their 9-0 start shows just how dominant they've been. Besides PSU we're the only team to lose by less than 10:

NAU 17
SUU 30
UND 30
UNC 9
SAC 12
PSU 3
MSU 15
SUU 24
NAU 18

Yet we're only 2 point underdogs tonight. We definitely finished strong in that game. We were down 15 at half, but scored 52 points in the second, getting it within 6.

This being the front-end game and at home must count for something too. Last time we played them on the back of a roadie. They played UND in the Thursday game, and it was a cakewalk, up 21 at half, won by 30. Whereas we had a competitive game at MSU before going cold in the final minutes like we too often do (Tyler Hall hitting 7 threes didn't help).

Then there's the refs. We had 25 fouls to Montana's 22, but Gristly fans were up in arms about fouls, especially shoving Sylla in the back during a tangle with Falls, which should not have been a tech apparently. Maybe the refs won't call 4 fouls on our third-leading scorer in 5 minutes so he finishes with zero points on 1 shot.

Nice blowout of MSU 86-63.

Spight had 30 with 14 minutes left in the game, finished with 41. That's the new all-time UNC record for D1.

Finally getting to the more favorable portion of the schedule for us, and seeing other teams face more of a challenge. MSU started 4-0, but have now lost 6 of 7, and 3 of their 5 wins are against SUU/NAU. We're 6-5, one game out of the precious 4 seed, and we have yet to play SUU, NAU, SAC, PSU who are a combined 11-29 so far. 5 of the 7 remaining games are on the road though. 5-2 seems doable, 4-3 may not cut it. EW and Idaho losing games helps too. EW got upset by PSU today. Idaho plays late tonight at Sac. Go Hornets!

Big week coming up! We should be able to handle Idaho State and get a little revenge against Weber State. Hoping for a successful road trip!

This has been a really exciting season for both the men and women. There is a complete log jam with only 1 game separating the top 6 teams in the women's standings. If someone can figure out Montana then the men's standings can bunch up as well with UNC in the mix.

It has been a good year for both teams. The ladies are 1 game behind Weber who they play this week in Greeley. The men are 1 game out of the 4 seed which avoids the play-in game and a first round Montana game. With the Eagles winning the super bowl after being underdogs all the way, even at home against the 6 seed Falcons, anything is possible.

Ugly win last night over Idaho State on the road despite being favored by 6.5 points. Down by 10 at the half.

Would've been nice to get an "easy" win and not have to claw this one out in the waning minutes. Save our legs for Weber vengeance on Saturday. But it's a win.

Montana 12-0
Weber State 9-2
Idaho 8-3
E Washington 7-4
N Colorado 7-5

There's a rare Friday game tonight and it matters. The two teams directly above us, EW @ Idaho.

Go Bears!

We're at Weber tonight. 2.5 point underdogs. Would really put us in the driver's seat to win. Haven't beaten Weber in over 3 years. Go Bears!

Last night Idaho beat EW so the standings as of now are.....

Montana 12-0
Weber 9-2
Idaho 9-3
N Colorado 7-5
E Washington 7-5

Probably can't catch Idaho at this point with only 6 games left, but we'd have the tiebreak over them if we do.

EW lucked out in scheduling. They only play the teams currently 1 and 2, Montana and Weber (21-2 combined), one time each. Instead, EW gets 2 games each against NAU/SUU (who are 4-18 combined). We get the much harder reverse scenario, Montana and Weber twice each, and NAU/SUU once each.

Good game tonight in Ogden. Like to see us double team on the inside, don’t let their bigs beat us. We are superior in guard play, but they like to pound it inside. All hands on deck tonight!

Bad loss....... we should’ve won this game. We’ve got to do a better job with our interior defense.

Up by 2 with 5.8 seconds left. Weber has to go the length of the court and make a shot. Seems like pretty good odds of winning. Unless we foul.....

In both losses to Weber we were UP 10 at half. Maybe the key is being DOWN by 10?

I thought we played well and deserved to win in a tough venue. That's a positive if we see Weber in the tournament on a neutral floor.

Does anyone else think that Davis shouldn't be on the floor in the last minute or two of close games? It seems that he usually misses free throws or makes some kind of turnover in the last seconds of a game. Other teams now know he is one to foul. He is a great player, but needs to work on those things.

That’s cold. Kid played hard all game and accepted responsibility for his mistake. Linder is a great coach and won’t emasculate his player that way. Teams lose games..... to players.

JD's a stud. Gotta have him in the game. Just a bad call. We had control of this game up 10 at half and just let off the gas to start the second.

Coach summed it up: "Those things happen and that wasn't the reason we lost the game. I told the team 'You can't let a team like that come out in the second half and shoot 53%'....I wasn't sure if he touched him or not but you can't put yourself in that position. We will learn from that moment and we know we are right there. It is a tough pill to swallow but those guys in the locker room believe that we are right there. We are going to keep getting better."
