• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Cross Country at Sac State has a Head Coach

Notice that Laura Harmon has been hired as the head coach of Sac State cross country. She comes from TCU where she was the head coach last year.

Looks like a great addition to the Sac State track and field program where the Hornets have won 17 titles in track and field in the Big Sky since 2008.

Always wondered why the cross country teams at Sac State have never won a Big Sky title with such an amazing track program. And not sure if the cross country program has actually had a designated head coach at the Div I level.

Looks like our new athletic director is committed to bringing in the best coaches to put all 21 sports at Sac State in a position to be successful.

And certainly no reason why Sac State cross country teams can't be the best with excellent facilities and excellent cross country environments along the American River.

Welcome to Sac State Coach harmon!!

Per the release linked above, she ran long distance at Oregon which is a national powerhouse in T&F. On paper this looks like a good hire.

cannot find it but I do believe cross country is one of the national championships Sac State has won. Believe it was the men in 1980. The other national championships include two volleyball and one softball if memory serves me correct. All 30 years or more ago at the Div II level. And believe we have several other runner ups in other sports at the Div II level.

Nice showing against Davis yesterday where a Hornet came in first place in both the races for the men and women but fell to the Aggies in the team score. Think this was a Causeway Cup scored event and we are yet again behind in the 2015-2016 Cup with this result and the women's soccer loss by 1 point to the Ags. Time for the Hornet men soccer team, volleyball and football to win over the Aggies to bring us even or ahead going into winter sports. Time for the fall sports to step it up in the Causeway Cup race.

Personally, the Causeway Cup became meaningless once they started picking and choosing when to play us. Any hope in redeeming any value of the CC was lost when their men's hoops team was too scared to play us in the Nest last year...a year where both programs fielded their best teams ever. :eek:hno:
