• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Volleyball 2016

Looks like we're going to have a very good volleyball team this year. We're already 4-2, one of the wins against Pac-10 Colorado. Still a little young, but with terrific depth. And we're rated at 22 in the mid-major rating. This weekend should tell us something about the season.

Always great when the PSU Viking Women fare well in one of PSU's signature athletic sports.

To the Viking Women warriors of Portland State Volleyball, I say: Fare thee well.

The Viking volleyballers are rolling along. First they took SE Louisiana in three sets, then then beat Utah State, the host of the tournament, in 5 sets. Impressively, they lost the first two sets then came back to win the next three. Anae was as usual the leading OH, with 25 kills in the Utah match, but equally impressive was our new freshman from Queensland, who pounded in 13 kills, hitting an outstanding .406. It's clear that we're in the top quarter of the Big Sky. I wouldn't venture to guess more than that at this point. It's early days.

We added a win against Riverside this past weekend. We're now running strong at 7-2. Beating Utah State and Colorado eases the agonizing over UW football. Now for Boise State. Best volleyball players in the Sky this week for Bojanovic and Erin to add to Pati Anae two weeks ago. This is a young team??!

We dropped a match to Boise State yesterday 1-3, then came back today to beat Arizona State, a Pac-12 team, 3-1. We now stand at 8-3. We have Davis tomorrow. I'm anxious for conference play to begin. Weber State now stands at the head of the pack, unbeaten at this point, but they haven't been playing very impressive teams.

As we go in to conference play this weekend, we don't look too bad. BSC stats: as a team, we're 1st in Assists, 2nd in kills, 3rd in aces, 4th in hitting; however, we're 8th in blocks and digs, and 10th in opposition hitting. As individuals, Anae is 1st in kills and points, Clark is 3rd in assists and 5th in aces, Bojanic in digs and no one on blocks. Blocking is a weakness. This weekend it's a long trip, but we should be able to beat Idaho State. Weber's going to be tough; they're a blocking team. Go Viks!

Don't know if any noticed, but PSU volleyball is headed back the the Big Sky Tournament next week. For a team made up of one senior and all the rest sophs and freshmen, they've done pretty well this year. Not sure if they'll get past the semis, but it augurs well for next year. Pati Anae, the senior, has done a spectacular job.
