The PAC/MWC Dominoes Begin to Fall

I love Sac State as much as the next guy as a Cal Poly fan, but this is getting sad at this point and you should have just stayed in the Big Sky and your lane until you build the new stadium.

"Dr. Wood" seems suspect and brother Joshua Wood creating his multiple businesses right after the Sac-12 move and "advisory firms" after the push is also bizarre:

Where is the money? Where are the details? Pac-12.. really? Come on guys, even the Mountain West wants nothing to do with you . Stop it.. get help!. Again, I thought Cal Poly could go FBS like 17 years ago and had rose colored glasses/blinders on like you guys do now and it never happened..
Go jump off a bridge

You act like we -- this board -- are the ones that are doing it.

Take your opinion and posting of a video we all have talked about from a former Pacific and Idaho coach with an agenda and get off our fucking board.

You have to keep in mind that this is an Idaho fan coping with the fact that they had to take an embarrassing demotion to FCS from the FBS ranks because their admin didn't want to invest in their program at that level to maintain success.

The Idaho guy in the video makes a lot of backhanded remarks during his whiny rant that miss the mark and are based on comparisons that have little to no bearing on our current situation.

As far as how the stadium gets funded, I covered that in my response to one of your first posts on this board back in post 1036 of this thread.

The irony of a Cal Poly fan talking about stadium construction when we are in year 5 of their construction on the John Madden Football Center is not lost on me.

Idaho guy who doesn't live in US, click hunting.

Like it or not both Sac and Davis will be FBS within the next 5 years, Poly will be the odd man out. It must have crossed your mind, your post on the Cal Poly Board; https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/calpolymustangs/big-west-brings-back-football-t6730.html

You propose that the Big West will bring back FCS football

"New Big West Football League":

Cal Poly
Cal Poly - Pomona
Cal Poly - Humboldt
Fullerton
UCSB
Irviine
LBSU
USD

And you call us delusional?

Oof. I don't know what's worse, pushing a new 8 member FCS conference where only one hypothetical member currently sponsors scholarship football or starting a message board thread about said FCS conference and being the person responsible for 5 of the 7 posts in the thread. Yikes.

I wasn't aware guy was an Idaho fan. He seems to really shit all over Sac State in a lot of his material, so I could see Idaho being demoted to FCS getting to him, thanks for the insight.

I will have to try and find the response to the stadium funding question in the previous post. I am not exactly sure which one it was, but thank you.

Where are the actual renderings of a real stadium? Are there any real designs? What is the actual anticipated total cost? Is there a timeline anywhere?

You guys need to get rid of the track.. you do realize this, right?

Your admin. spent literally 318 thousand dollars for a couple conceptual graphics of a stadium? Ouch! That's a lot of money for some cartoon looking drawings that aren't grounded in any sort of reality.. anybody audit that one? 318K for the "hive" drawings- all 3 or whatever of them.. isn't that like 100K a rendering?

You know, as a California taxpayer getting kicked in the nuts all the time.. not a huge fan of this.

$318,000 just so Sac State fans can get off over something that's never going to happen?... Yikes.. almost time to call it quits.

That's a swift kick to the nuts as a taxpayer. Maybe next time we can spend 318K on something else?

I think it's been under construction for 2 years at most.. Takes a while to build a sweet John Madden Center on campus.. that name is so familiar..

You guys are keeping very close watch on the John Madden Center timeline apparently.. Saying it's taking too long.. it's kind of weird and sad tbh.

You're just upset, because you weren't included ;)

I wish Sacramento State the best of luck in the future, and am curious to watch you guys as an FCS independent team.

I'd need to see what the scope of work entailed before claiming that $318k is an egregious expense. I'd consider stadium consultant work a niche industry so I would assume there aren't many folks in the game that have the desired quals Dr. Wood was looking for. Populous is marketed as the industry leader in the stadium consulting game, anytime an industry leader is used it's not going to be for bottom dollar.

I do like the dueling narratives from the detractors on the stadium though. I can't help but laugh at the counter arguments/narratives about not having money for a stadium and now spending too much for the initial phase of the project.

Fun story, I had the pleasure of tailgating with a couple of CP alums at the SJSU game last season. One of the guys lived in the area and was related to a player on the SJSU roster. They mentioned that there were issues with the funding of the Madden Center and, at the time, didn't know where the funds that were needed to complete the project were going to come from. I hope CP gets it built as it will be a boost for CP's moribund program. Nothing good about seeing a fellow CSU football program in the doldrums.

When I went to the game at CP in '22, it looked like construction was already underway. I would have thought the project would have been a bit further along by now, over 2 years to get a $45M design build project that's 33k SF is not very economical.

I believe they were still running the triple option when construction started. 2022 is an option, but it might have started in 1952 as well. Can't be sure these days.

Curious if you have info that construction has been delayed because of lack of funding?
